"Sheriff, you're looking a little tired today." Veronica said, striding into Don Lamb's office confidently and taking a seat in front of him.

"Who let you in, Mars?" He asked wearily.

"I just want to know where you went last night." Veronica said, losing her smile.

"I don't think that's your problem. Just be glad you didn't spend the night in jail."

"Fine. But I'm going to make sure the Mannings never hurt Grace again." Veronica said, standing up and making her way to the door.

"Veronica!" He said, getting up to stop her. "I'm taking care of it, okay?"

"No. It's not okay. You said you were taking care of the crash, remember?"

"I guess you're just going to have to trust me."

"Never. Let the rest of Neptune be delusional, but I'm not."

"I know you weren't lying when you came in…after Lilly died." Lamb said quietly.

"What?" Veronica asked. "That's in the past, Sheriff. There's nothing you can do to change what happened there."

"I know that's why you don't believe me. I didn't believe you. But I do. I saw the…the thing they locked that little girl in. I know you weren't lying. I know you weren't lying about anything."

Veronica looked at Lamb. In the eyes, something she rarely did.

"Don't worry about me. Just worry about Grace," she said. "That's your job." She finished, opening the door and walking out without another word.
