Serena lied in her bed drifting of to sleep as she recalled her wonderful evening with Darien. Today was their anniversary. As usual, Darien had out done himself and planned an extraordinary evening

'I'm so lucky to have Darien,' she thought. 'I couldn't live without him.' Serena adjusted herself in her bed and turned to face her night table. Immediately her eyes caught the attention of a picture of her and Darien at their anniversary dinner. She sat up in her bed and grabbed the photograph.

--

They were dinning at one of the best restaurants in the area, seated out on the balcony with a perfect view of the ocean. Serena was wearing a knee length spaghetti strapped maroon dress with a slit up to her mid thigh. The dress perfectly hugged her body and defined her figure and curves. The dark color not only complemented her light skin, but brought out the rosy color in her cheeks. She looked positively radiant. Darien also looked as stunning as always. To capture the moment Darien had a waiter take a picture of them. The picture was perfect, seeing as the setting sun was the backdrop. After their dinner they walked along the shore hand in hand.

Darien slowly stopped and turned to face Serena. He reached into his jacket and grabbed a small box.

"Serena, my love. You mean everything to me. You're the first thing that comes to my mind when I wake up, and the last thing I think of at night. If you weren't here, life would be meaning less. Serena, I love you more than life itself."

Serena listen attentively with tears of joy in her eyes as Darien vowed his love.

"The earth is incomplete without the moon, like I'm incomplete without you. You're my shinning star."

Darien opened the box counseled in his hand.

"Happy anniversary, my sweet."

Serena's eyes grew wide as she saw what was in the box. It was a white gold necklace with a crescent moon in the center. Dangling from the tip of the moon was a small diamond star.

Serena looked up from the necklace and up into Darien's eyes. He closed the distance between them with a gentle kiss.

Serena ran her hands along Darien's shoulders and around his neck as she deepened the kiss. Serena was engulfed in complete bliss. For there was no where else on earth she would rather be.

The couple stood there locked within each other's embrace as the moon pulled the earth's tides.

--

Serena laid the photograph back onto her night table. She closed her eyes and slowly drifted off to sleep with one thought in her mind...

You're My Shinning Star.
