Always Have and Always Will
Disclaimer: don't own and never will own Star Trek, or Deanna, or Will. *sighs*
"Why?" Deanna's voice was filled with pain and disbelief. Her eyes were wide with fear, but not fear for herself, fear for me, of what would most certainly happen to me.
"I forgot" I said softly
"Forgot what?" Her voice rose through the octaves taking a new urgency, we both knew there were only seconds left.
"For a long time, I forgot what it was like to love you, to love anyone. That's why you're on that escape pod. I had to give you a chance. Forgive me Deanna; I'm sorry it took so long. "
"Will, I swear I will do everything I can to bring help back to you. I…" Whatever else she had been going to say was lost as the pod began its ascent to space.
I thought back to the last few days, we had been on a shuttle headed for the Enterprise. Deanna had been on Betazed for shore leave and I had gone with her. Things hadn't gone the way I had planned at all. I fell in love with Deanna all over again. I had loved her once but I left, simply because I was scared.
On our way back from Betazed our shuttle malfunctioned, we were lucky enough to find a suitable planet to crash on. Once we had crashed we had to face the truth, we weren't due to meet the Enterprise for a week, and no one would come looking for us until then. We had some emergency rations but not nearly enough.
Then we found an old science station, and one escape pod. A one person escape pod. I ran the equations as many ways as I could think of, but even if Deanna and I could squeeze inside together, it wouldn't have enough fuel to get both of us anywhere. It could get one of us close to a main trading route, and there was a chance that if one of us could get there they could be rescued.
When I tried to tell Deanna to go, she wouldn't. She can be so stubborn! So I dropped it. Then last night I stuck to the pod a programmed it so that the next time the door shut it would launch in 3 minutes. This morning I tricked her to make her go into the pod, I asked her to take a look at the computer to see if we could send a signal that someone might be able to hear. Then I shut the door.
Now she was gone. I hope that I did the right thing. I hope that she doesn't die out there all alone in space. I won't think that way. She will be saved! She has to be!
It's getting very cold here without another body to share heat with.
So cold.
I don't think I can last much longer.
If I die…..
I hope she knows…
I love her.
Always have
And always will
Author's notes: This story can be set whenever you want it to be set! [As long as Will and Deanna haven't admitted their passion for each other! ;)]
