Hello there! OkonoMiyagi here with something other than Iron Chef Symphonia for a change. You're probably going to wonder why I'm publishing such a short piece. Truth is, I wrote this for a class as a listening response to a sound file (which I can't remember for the life of me). Wondered what kind of reception it would get here. Though I'm pretty sure it's exceptionally bad...I wrote this in like, 10 minutes. Enjoy...or don't.
"You must wake me, for if I should sleep, the whole world shall be destroyed."
So says the goddess that left us with the task of regenerating the world after the Great War. And the priests have been chanting this little chant ever since.
"Root of all creation, grant us the breath of life…thy faithful servant asketh for thy blessing. Honor us with the splendor of thy song…"
The Oracle is coming, I am sure of it. Though I am a bit concerned about the one who is to undertake the long, arduous journey of regeneration…why does she have to be the one? Surely the Oracle could have chosen someone different, someone who didn't have as full of a life as she to still live. It is only now I realize that the priests' chant is not just for the goddess, but also for our Chosen…
"I beg of thee to reveal thy glory…"
Glory…what glory is there to be achieved? It is a perilous journey, no doubt, but if the Chosen's only purpose for living is to regenerate the world by giving up her own soul…this is no goddess we pray for! I cannot—and will not—stand for such a horrid ritual!
"Thy power floweth freely, ever unwavering…accept my soul into thine embrace!"
I cannot help but turn away and cry, for to do that shall mean…
Remind me to stick with Iron Chef Symphonia, please...
