Note: This is my first time actually submitting something and posting it! Also my first love story!!

A Ruto and Link Story

"What?", asked Link, confused, as Ruto finished telling him.

"It's true," said Ruto, "I wasn't making it up. When I said it was an engagement sapphire, I meant it."

"But, we were only kids back then, and I really needed the Stone. I didn't think you would actually be serious about that!"

"Well I am! And I still am...Link, I truly do love you"
Link suddenly blushed at these words.

"Well to be my husband, you first had to prove yourself worthy of being a man! And you did! When you defeated that monster to rescue me...I thought that was the sweetest thing ever"
"Also, Link...please give me a chance.We could go to Lake Hylia and hang out.Please Link..."

Link hesitated for a moment, "Alright Ruto. We can go."

"YAY!!" Ruto cheered as she lunged herself forward to hug Link.
Link could do nothing more but to be there and get hugged.

Link and Ruto arrived at the center of Lake Hylia. They sat down, ate food, and Link, surprised, had a good time.
They also told jokes, here and there, played in the water, and Ruto would take every opportunity she found to hug Link once more. Link somehow felt that the more he got to know Ruto, he seemed to like her better.

"So Link," said Ruto, "the day is almost over..." Ruto's expression changed greatly than what it was for the whole day. She seemed sadder.

Link asked, "What's wrong, Ruto?"

"It's just that..." Link thought he saw a tear coming out of her eye. "Zelda is a really beautiful woman, isn't she Link?"

Link was confused. "Umm, yeah she is. Why do you ask?"

Ruto said "Link, from the start I knew this wouldn't work out, me and you"
Link felt a little bit of fear inside of him from hearing these words.
"What do you mean, Ruto?" asked Link.

Ruto said, "Link...you're a Hylian, I'm a Zora..." At this point, Ruto began to cry.
"Link, it's true that I love you, but all Hylians wouldn't want a Zora for a wife"
"I just wanted to hang out with you more before having to face this fact and confront you."

Ruto got up and and started to run.

Link quickly got up and grabbed Ruto's hand, pulled her towards him, and embraced her in his arms.

"Ruto," said Link, "it's true that at first I felt like all those other Hylians...however, today, after getting to know you...I realized I was wrong."

Ruto started crying even more, as Link still had his arms wrapped around Ruto.
"B-but don't you p-prefer Z-zelda?"

Link said, "I think of Zelda as a friend. But you Ruto...I can't exlplain it but, I feel like I love you too."

Ruto sobbed for even longer, and Link just held Ruto in his arms.
After Ruto seemed to calm down, but was still covered in tears, she said, "Link"
She paused, trying to find out what to say.

Link just reached forward and kissed her lips.

Ruto broke out in tears again.
As they broke apart, Ruto wrapped around her arms around Link, kissing him again.
Ruto felt like she would never let go, wanted to never let go, and hoping for better days ahead.
