One moment, Jack was fighting a monster of the week. The others were handling the numerous foot soldiers that seemed to show up. Chaos was everywhere. He heard explosions everywhere. It felt like that they were in a war zone. Well…they kind of were. Some were so powerful that the ground shook. He ducked as the monster swing his staff. Maybe, he didn't pay attention or something. It was because in the next moment, he felt his world shattered. He heard his helmet crack under the pressure and a pain that he couldn't describe. It felt like his head was about to exploded with pain. God must have granted him mercy because seconds later, he fell into darkness.
When he woke up again, he heard voices. Sometimes, loud…sometimes….mumbled…sometimes, just plain confusing. He couldn't make words. It made the pain in his head increase. It felt like someone or something was banging a hammer against his brain.
He wanted it to stop.
"Blood…Rising…"
"Get…."
"Ja…."
"….ack!"
"Stay as…"
He felt hands pressing and holding him down. He struggled to get free. Let go. Let go.
"Jac…"
"JACK!"
"Hold him!"
Jack
The voice echoed through his head. He didn't miss on how familiar it was.
You need to calm down, Jack. Kat needs to check you out.
A wave of panic spread through him as he felt something wrap around his hands. No…No…It is too much like when he was a kid.
NO…NO…NO….NO!
JACK!
He felt something pinched into his skin as he struggled. Suddenly, he felt slow and confused. His thoughts couldn't connect with each other. Those thoughts tumbled into darkness.

When he woke again…well…he thought that he woke up. He was slightly confused by the fact that it was still dark. He felt something wrapped around his eyes and his head was throbbing. Wonderful. He felt something touch his hand and jerked it away.
"Jack…it's me."
He knew that voice anywhere. Sometimes, he even dreamed about that voice.
"Z?"
"The one and only."
He sighed slightly and relaxed against the bed.
"What happened?"
"A monster hit you in the side of the head."
"Felt like it."
Then she didn't say anything. He felt her fingers tighten around his hand. He knew in that moment that something was wrong.
"How bad is it, Z?"
He could hear the hitch in her voice.
"One of your retinas is detached. They want to make sure that you were stable before they did the surgery."
"And that means….?"
"It means that you will be a mummy for a few days."
A wave of panic hit him. No…No…He didn't like to feel this helpless. It made his skin crawl. He knew what happened to the blind on the streets. He just knew. Z brought him back to earth with a squeeze of his hand.
"It is okay. You have us. You will be back to bugging Sky in no time. Syd and Bridge will probably talk your ear off. You are going to wish that you were deaf, huh? I will make sure that you won't run into any walls…much."
"You are evil, Z."
She laughed. Her laughter made him feel slightly better. The thought still bugged him.
"What if it doesn't work…what if?"
He couldn't be blind…he just couldn't….
"Don't make me get Bridge in here….. You will get better. Everyone knows. You will be back ordering people around in no time."
He laughed.
"Thanks, Z."
"Anytime."
End.
