"Oh, Sam. What are you doing here?" Meg asked as Sam entered the back room of the Vinyl Crocodile. She knew he was at the store often, usually found in one of the listening booths, but this back room was only for employees. Meg was in there at the moment because her parents were forcing her to pay off the bail they had put up for her.
"I need a second job." Sam answered. "I'm here for training. I though Luke left though, why're you here?" Sam countered her inquire.
"I need to pay my parents back for the bail. And after that, I could probably use some extra money." Meg smiled, and then suddenly became concerned. "By the way, are you still going to Penn?"
Sam shrugged, "I have a meeting with the Dean tomorrow. My Dad'll be really disappointed if I get my scholarship taken away."
"I'm so sorry, we shouldn't have gone, especially not you! It's my fault I shouldn't have invited you!" Meg apologized.
"It's done. Besides, I wanted to go." Sam answered as soon as the manager entered to show them the ropes. ***
After they had finished their employee training, Sam and Meg were free to leave, until the next day when they would both start their shifts at 10:30 in the morning. "See you tomorrow Sam. Good luck with the meeting. I really hope everything turns out ok." Meg said turning to go down the street to where the bus stop was so she could go to Bandstand, for once her parents didn't ban her from it, but Sam called her back.
"I might be a little late, my meeting is at 9:30 but I don't know how long I'll have to wait, there's a couple of guys who need to go before me." Sam told her.
"Oh, I'll cover for you, no problem." Meg said, he smiled at her in thanks and then waved good-bye. Meg turned and continued on to the bus stop where she met up with Roxanne.
"Where were you? You almost missed the bus!" Roxanne immediately went off.
"Sorry, I had employee training remember? It ran a little late." Meg apologized just as the bus pulled up. They both got on and paid the fee. The found a seat near the center of the bus.
"So who's your partner?" Roxanne asked looking at Meg excitedly hoping she would answer with the name of some really cute guy.
"Sam, actually." Meg answered looking out the window distractedly.
"Oh," Roxanne answered obviously a little disappointed, "Well, that'll be fun right?"
"Mm-hmm." Meg answered still distracted by the scenery going by.
"Something wrong?" Roxanne asked.
"I feel so bad." Meg answered looking at her. "Sam might lose his scholarship because of me."
"Meg you didn't make him go." Roxanne answered consolingly.
"But I asked him to come with me and I knew he would if I asked." Meg told her. She shook her head. "Never mind." Meg muttered as the bus sputtered to a stop across from the TV studios and they got off.
