Everything had been fine on the surface world. All the monsters were peaceful. All except one...
"SANS! Open up!" He knocked violently on his brothers door. He could feel himself getting dizzy and feeling sick, his orange jumper and scarf stained with blood. Suddenly sans opened the door with a sleepy expression.
"S-sans I d-don't know what to do. It's my ribs, please help me brother!" He spoke with a weak voice, placing Sparkles (his pet dog) carefully on the ground.
"Woah, bro!" Sans spotted the scarily large amount of blood soaking through his younger brothers clothes. "Oh no- Oh gosh. It's okay bro, I know what's going on with ya." Sans gently sat Papyrus down on his couch, slowly removing his brothers jumper and top, revealing his ribs and Soul. "I should of told you this before pap, I'm so stupid!" Sans sighed, taking a deep breath. "It's okay brother, just start by explaining what is going on please." Papyrus said, loosing more energy by the second.
"Okay so... where to start. Oh I know! Y'know my powers. Da Gaster blasters?" Sans watched as his younger brother nodded weakly. " Well skeletons, we get to a point where are powers become stronger. Like a ton stronger. That blood coming from your soul- it's the first sign of the powers coming through. It's just the preassure is to much for your soul to handle right now so you will grow a bit ill and maybe bleed like this again. But it's nothing to be scared of, it just hurts a bit s'all. You'll get better bro!" Sans reassured him, patting the taller skeleton on the back.
"O-oh okay, well that does not sound like a challange too hard for the great papyrus!" Papyrus exclaimed, slightly relieved. "Wait... how did you know about this? I thought all skeleton information was destroyed. All the books in the library back in Snowdin- they were burnt!" Papyrus explained in a confused ton.
"Pap... we don't talk about that. Asgore told me what to do, he still had some info kept in the archives. I was just as confused as you when it happened to me, I had not heard of this kind of thing happening to any other monsters. Not in Snowdin, not anywhere." Sans paused, looking hurt by the memories.
"Sorry brother! I did not know, that must have been very frightening! Do you happen to know how long it will last for? The bleeding. Or are there any other side effects perhaps?" Papyrus asked, feeling sorry that his brother had been all alone when it happened, not one monster to go to for help.
Sans looked up at Papyrus, gloomier by the second. "Well obviously there will be a skele-ton of differences, heh. I mean- think about it. You'll get your own gaster blasters, heck even a ability like teleportation. I dunno exactly what your powers will be like bro, because we are different. All I can tell you now is that you must not strain yourself, try and take it easy and don't overdo the whole 'new powers' thing if your not ready." Sans replied, looking anxiously at his brother.
"Thank you brother! I'll try and keep that in mind. Wowie! Imagine what powers I'll get!" Papyrus said, jumping off the couch and heading to the medicine cabinet, his scarf tailing majestically behind him.
"I'll just go and get some bandages Sans, then I'll be out your hair!" He called from the corridor.
"Skeletons don't have hair bro!" Sans called back chuckling.
"Sans! Leave me alone okay. You know what I meant!" Papyrus returned with rolls of bandages, placing them gently on the coffee table infront of Sans.
"Here bro, lemme help you with that!" Sans picked up a roll and faced his brother, slowly rapping it around his ribs tightly until it was securely held in place by a safety pin.
"All done bro." Sans said, giving him a thumbs up.
"Thank you Sans, I will try and keep in touch with you through a ringing device!" Papyrus still hadn't mastered the idea of electronics, he never had been great at that sort of thing.
Ever since they had been living on the surface, all the monsters including Papyrus wore more casual normal-looking clothes to blend in with the humans. However other human customs had still been a struggle to get used to. Especially technology. They had it in the Underground, but it was way not as advanced as it is on the surface.
"Well farewell brother! Will see you again soon, perhaps a night out at grillbys would be a good idea?" Papyrus smiled as he picked up Sparkles. The dog yelped happily and licked his face lovingly.
"Okay goodbye bro. Bye pupster." Sans smiled widely at the small little dog, it always loved his bro so much.
He watched from the window as Papyrus made it down the lane and off out of view.
'What a great brother I have.' he thought to himself as he sat down in his beloved armchair. Drifting off into a dreamy slumber, whilst the clock struck 12:00 in the afternoon.
