K.O.
I blinked. There seemed to be something speeding towards me. Huh. As the white object sped towards me, time seemed to have slowed down. I watched the baseball as it made contact with my forehead.
I thought, "Okay, this is going to hurt." Then it hit me. I tasted something metallic and the ground rushed up to meet me. I almost laughed as the ground grew arms and reached out to me. "I must have a concussion."
I woke up on the ground with a large lump on my head. I looked up and saw a face. The face looked at me funny.
"Arb yerd felng kam? Are yer feeling k? Are you feeling okay? Can you hear me?" The voice kept speaking in a Boston accent. "Jeez, you're scaring me. ARE YOU OKAY?" I winced at the loud noise. I had one heck of a headache. "I'm real sorry. Please be okay. My ma would kill me for getting sued."
"Oog… Please stop talking," I responded.
"You're awake! Oh jeez, I'm really sorry," the guy apologized.
"It's fine. Say, is that a baseball? Can I play?" I asked. Yup, gotta be delirious.
"Um, sure, I guess. By the way, my name's Seth. What's yours?" He told me.
"It's Alice. I'll just go grab my glove," I smiled, realizing that this was going to be a long friendship. Funny what can happen from one stray baseball.
