A/N: Just a little one-shot I wrote. Inspired by the song "I'm With You" by Avril Lavigne. Not a song-fic! Enjoy!

The rain beat down on the earth, making everything soggy and wet. Rin sat huddled beneath a large tree, with her arms wrapped around her shins as she tried not to cry, and stay as warm and dry as possible.
She had been told to stay right there, so here she was, and still there was no sign of Lord Sesshomaru.
"He'll come back for me. Lord Sesshomaru always comes back for me." She said softly. It had been a day already and she was still all alone in the forest.
Being alone wasn't the problem though. Being alone was something she was used to. What hurt her was the possible rejection and abandonment. She was afraid that Lord Sesshomaru had grown tired of her. He hated humans after all, and she was a human child.
That fact had never bothered her before because she had always been confident in his tolerance of her. She had thought that maybe he had even…cared about her. But maybe…she'd been wrong and he got tired of looking after her and just left her there.
Her bottom lip trembled as a tear slipped down her cheek. She was alone again and had nowhere to go. She belonged with her lord, wherever he was!
More tears fell and she buried her face in her upraised knees. She trembled from the cold made all the worse by her wet clothes, but mostly, she shook with grief. Suddenly, the rain stopped hitting her and she looked up and blinked in confusion. Her big sad brown eyes met questioning gold ones.
"Lord Sesshomaru." She whispered as a smile spread across her face. "You came back!"
Rin jumped to her feet and hugged his leg. Sesshomaru blinked in surprise, but didn't push her wet form away. He couldn't bring himself to do that, not to her. She held on tightly as if she never wanted to let go.
"Rin."
She raised her eyes to look at him.
"Why were you crying?"
Her lips trembled as she gave him a sheepish little smile.
"Rin thought you might have left her because you got tired of her because she's a human."
He frowned slightly at her admission.
"This Sesshomaru will not leave you, Rin."
At those words, her smile was blinding. She believed him.
"Where did you go then, Lord Sesshomaru?"she asked innocently.
Silently he produced a small package from his sleeve and handed it to her. She quickly opened it to reveal a new clean, dry kimono.
"Thank you Lord Sesshomaru." She breathed, still gazing at the beautiful material in wonder.
"Hn."
He pulled another object from his sash and handed it to her. It looked a little strange, but her eyes widened in excitement because she'd seen another one just like it before.
"An umbrella! Just like Lady Kagome's!"
Rin looked up again with happiness; her fears all but forgotten as she saw how much her lord cared for her. He was a demon of few words, but his actions spoke for him.
"To keep you dry so you do not become sick." Rin sneezed and he frowned again.
"You are already cold and wet. Come."
Rin closed the package and handed it back so it wouldn't get wet. As she opened up the umbrella, she wondered just how it was that Lord Sesshomaru never seemed to get wet. She shook it off though when he reached out a clawed hand to her after stowing the kimono away again.
She placed her small hand in his large one and Mokomoko wrapped himself around her to keep her warm. Rin smiled happily as she walked, holding his hand.
She knew that everything was alright now because she had her lord by her side again, and his word was as good as law. He said he would never leave her, and she believed him.
With him, she was safe. With him, she was home.
