Chapter One
"Are you really going to leave without asking the question you've been dying to ask me?" Red questions. He was simply infuriating by knowing exactly what makes me tick.
"Shut up." I retort with fake confidence. 'Really Lizzie, that's the best thing you could come up with?' He stares at me and I see a hint of a smirk dancing on the edge on his lips.
"Make me." He states with a mischievous glint in his calculating eyes. I push myself up from where I was previously leaning on the teal walls and slowly advance towards one of the world's most notorious and dangerous criminals, who is currently wearing a very charming fedora. My thoughts were so wrapped up on how to fulfill his request, that I wasn't thinking rationally. When the devious plan protruded into my mind, I hesitated. Then pushing my cautious thoughts away, I grab Red's crimson tie, yanking him close to me, and smash my lips onto his.
I feel his muscles tense beneath me as I push him down onto the large plush couch. He lays surprised, shock evident on his chiseled facial features. It takes all of thirty seconds for him to realize what I was doing and in a blink of an eye he was straddling me. I take advantage of the disheveled state he is in and decided to question him again, hoping this time I will be able to influence him with a kiss.
"Where were you the night of my father's death?" I question, out of breath from our previous activities. He sharply pulls away and sits up on the opposite side of the couch, casually swinging an arm over the back of the sofa. A deep sigh escapes from his thin lips.
"I'm not going to lie to you Lizzie-" Red begins, but that was all I needed to hear before I jumped up from the sofa with tears pricking at the corners of my eyes. With blurred vision I ran towards the oak door, and as soon as my hand touched the smooth cold metal of the doorknob, I heard him faintly yelling my name over the chaos of my thoughts.
The next few minutes were a blur, all I remember was hearing my frantic footsteps.
