Seven-year old Annabeth looked down and playfully jumped on the puddles in the park. As she laughed, she saw the reflection of a boy her age in one big puddle. She looked up to see a cute-scrawny kid kind of way. With black messy hair, and bright sea-green eyes. She walked up to the boy.
"Are you a monster?" She asked.
"I'm not a monster...?" He was confused. 'Am I?', he thought.
"Well, have you seen any monsters lately?"
"Um...ooh! I know a monster!"
"Who? Tell me! Who?"
Meanwhile, Thalia finally receives two hot dogs for Annabeth and Luke. As she walks back to where her friends were, she stopped in dead tracks to see Annabeth pulling the collar of a boy's shirt.
"Annabeth!" She shouted.
She handed the hot dogs to Luke. Then ran for Annabeth.
"C'mon! Tell me who! I'll kill him. I'll kill him I'll kill him I'll -" Annabeth yelled.
Thalia quickly came over and interrupted. "Annabeth! What are you doing?"
"Thalia! He told me he knows a monster!" Annabeth screamed.
"Well? What is it?"
"Tell her!" She pointedly looked at the boy.
"Smelly Gabe." the boy replied.
"What?!" both girls said in unison.
The girls looked at each other. "Crazy mortals."
Annabeth rolled her eyes. Thalia took her hand and walked away.
Meanwhile, the boy's mother came to give him his hotdog.
"Okay, honey you've got your hotdog, let's go back home."
"But mom!" the boy complained.
"Oh, Percy. I wish we can stay, but your step-father is waiting for us."
"Smelly Gabe? Hmph! " Percy turned his head and crossed his arms. Percy hated him. 'He is a monster, right?', he thought.
The mother turned his head facing her gently. "Honey, please. For me?"
She asked with those pleading eyes.
Percy sighed and nodded. Together they went back home. But before Percy would walk back home, he looked back to see the little girl he met. Annabeth, too, did the same. With one last glance, both looked away, wondering about each other.
