A/N Hey everyone, this is a short drabble i came up with for school, i basically had to write a 350-450 word story, and i chose to write about NCIS...
This is pretty much AU, it's inspired by the scene in "Life Before His Eyes".
Enjoy :)

The day her father left for Operation Desert Storm was bittersweet. It was full of laughs, cries, love and pride, all in the few decisive moments of their life. Marine Gunnery Sergeant Leroy Jethro Gibbs was a marine unlike most. Dedicated to the Navy, but, most importantly, dedicated to his family, his girls.
He was stuck between a rock and a hard place. He needed to go, wanted to go, but the teary eyed expression his 8 year old daughter gave him anchored him to the spot.
"Don't go Daddy." Those are the words that she told him, that will haunt him until the day he will be reunited with them.
"I'm going to miss you so much!" she remembered him saying. He kissed her nose and promised her that he'll come back to them, before backing out of their driveway, his wave leaning out from the window being the last that her teary eyes registered, before he turned the corner and driving off, the weight of his absence fixed on her shoulders.
Now, 2 months later, the day had finally come. The day he returned. Kelly's happy screams flooded the house, and filled it with a pleasant echo.
"Daddy's coming!" she shouted, over and over. The sound of the doorbell overshadowed the eager voice of the little redhead.
"Mommy?" Her mother walked past the bright red "1" on the calendar, that signaled the last day of their countdown. She held a washcloth in one hand, and a dish in the other.
She gave the cloth to Kelly and opened the door. Her eyes met those of the two lieutenants, dressed in brown elegant military suits. They saluted her, and she knew what it meant. She knew this might happen, but she couldn't believe it. Her hands gave out and the dish shattered on the floor.
"NO!" She shouted, her hand flying over her mouth trying to stifle the sobs that escaped her.
"I'm sorry ma'am" one of the lieutenants said in a deep sympathetic voice.
"Mommy, what's wrong?" asked Kelly, but she didn't get an answer. She understood. She looked down and her eyes filled with tears. "My daddy's not coming back, is he?" she asked one of the tall men. He crouched down next to her.
"No, kiddo, i'm sorry"
"He promised he'd come back!" she said, a fresh batch of tears spilling over her cheeks.
"He'll always be with you. If he were here, you know what he'd tell you?"
She replied quietly "Semper Fi".
"Urrah kid, that's right." She looked at him leave, and then shifted her gaze, staring through the clouds.
"Semper Fi Daddy"

Short and cute, right?
Please Review, it makes my day :))
