Dimensional Guardians Origins
Lexas Caelum
One would think that a person could live a life without complications. I had hoped for a life like that, but alas I was not given that opportunity. Born into a family who served a secret society whose mission was to protect the throne, I was trained from the day I could walk. Honing my skills so that I would one day serve his majesty. But then you came along and changed everything. You, who was not born into this, you merely came in. You had the gift like us, but were not considered family. You had to train harder, you had to learn faster, and you had to study harder. But you pushed through it all and you succeeded.
I still remember our first mission during the war. You had just gained the title of an apprentice and were put in a team along with me and our mentor Corvus. It was your first kill as a member of our order. Our target at the time was a man who was making the plans for that bio-weapon. You weren't like the others, who felt regret for the kill. You stood by our code, you fulfilled the mission and took it in stride. I think that is why I started falling for you. I think that is why I pushed you away was because I was not sure if these feelings were mutual. I did not also know how my father would feel if I would fall for an outsider. Yes even though you were a member of our organization, you were deemed an outsider due to you not being born into it.
I wanted to tell you how I felt about you. So that is why I am writing this letter. If we make it out of this battle, then I will be burning it. But if you are reading this letter then it means that in our attempt to make things right, I have died. Know that I died loving you. I do not wish for you to wallow in self-pity. I want you to stand tall, like you have always done. Remember Lexas, We serve in the darkness to save the light.
-Sonya Illium
Lexas read the letter over again. He looked at it one last time and folded it, into a small square and put it in his inner coat pocket. He looked down to the crowded city below him, from where he stood high ontop of the citadel. He pulled the hood of his attire over his head, and concealed his identity. He stood up from his crouched stance and held his arms outstretched.
To say that nothing is true, is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile
Lexas fell foreward, and free-dived down from the citadel.
To say that everything is permitted, is to understand that we are architectsof our actions, whether glorious or tragic
Lexas closed his eyes as he fell, letting the wind blow passed him as he fell. He leaned foreward in the air, as he free fell.
We are not merceneries, we are not the royal guard, we are not the militia
Lexas landed in a crouch in the alley that was below the citadel. He got to his feet, brushing himself off.
"I am an Assassin" he muttered as he walked into a large crowd "who serves the light, and will always be there to protect it"
