Souls
Chapter 1
I woke to a loud noise outside my window. I sat up in my bed, my head pounding from the dream I had last night. Looking out my window, it was poring outside, the wind was howling, and lightning so close it looked as if it were as bright as the sun. I lay back down, thinking about the dream I had last night. The dream felt like it had actually happened. The voice I heard in my head kept repeating over and over. "I'll be coming soon, Marcus," said a deep voice, "And I will achieve my goal."
I climbed out of bed, and walked over to my drawer, opened it and pulled out a small box. I opened the box with caution, and pulled out what was inside. Inside the box was a necklace in a shake of a sword, snakes twisting around it. The sword was made of metal, as for the snakes they were made of alligator hide. It glowed in my hand a dark green and purple color. I put the necklace around my neck, and closed the box, putting it back in my drawer.
I picked up a quarter that was lying on my nightstand. I stared at it for a while, twisting it between my fingers, and then tossed it up into the air. I put my hand out towards the coin, and it went flying into the wall. There was a crack in the wall where the coin had hit it. Inside the crack was the coin, lodged into the wall. There were footsteps coming from the room above, so I quickly hid the necklace under my shirt. I opened my door quietly and shut it behind me.
