I honestly have no excuse for this one. It just came to me completely out of the blue one day and I rather liked the idea of Setsuna watching other worlds sometimes. Hey, even the Time Guardian gets bored, right? And yes, it's also about the Black sisters...big surprise. ^^;
It's not often that she watches other worlds, other timelines. But the fact that her daughter has been waking up in the middle of the night speaking of a great battle and death abounding, of the Chosen One who is "just a boy", makes her uneasy. She has searched the timeline of their world and found nothing, and a small part of her already knew that she would. Their Princess has vanquished Chaos once and for all. But of course, Saturn is the Sovereign of Death; wherever a great struggle takes place, wherever death clogs the air, she knows and feels.
So at the Gates Pluto watches a battle at an old castle, keeping an eye on the boy but also watching others. She sees a tall, pale blonde desperate to save her son; a wild dark-haired woman screaming in joy as she kills; an almost identical woman sitting at home, holding a baby boy in her arms, the worry in her face so tangible that Pluto feels her own heart ache.
"Can you fix it?"
She whirls, Time Staff leveled, wondering why she didn't know there was an intruder, but the speaker is not solid. She is not a ghost but not alive, something in between—a spirit, perhaps. Pluto raises an eyebrow at the young woman. "No."
"No, I don't mean…I know what's done is done." She runs a hand through her short, spiky hair. "But I also know there are other realities, other paths that lives could have taken. Somewhere….could they be happy?"
This is certainly an odd situation, Pluto muses idly as she observes the young woman in front of her. But something in her eyes—a flash, a spark—reminds her of her Firefly, and as she studies the girl, it becomes increasingly harder to refuse her. She sighs and lowers her weapon, nodding. "Yes. Somewhere, I promise they'll get it right."
