Power Rangers: Megaforce
Power of The Seas
Ch. 1-New Girl on The Block
It was just another day at the Harwood County High School where our team of superheroes known as the Megaforce Power Rangers were attending classes while juggling their normal lives while serving their duty as being the protectors of the Earth from the evil race of insectoid aliens known as the Warstar who plan on taking over the planet and destroying all life in the world. It was on this particular day that Gia, the girl with the brightest confidence and the Megaforce Yellow Ranger, Noah the scientific prodigy and the Megaforce Blue Ranger, and Emma the nature enthusiast who was the Megaforce Pink Ranger were walking to class together while a young woman was walking towards them, getting quite a number of looks and stares from the other students. She was dressed in a wetsuit covered by a black corset that faded to green at the bottom, a green and black ruffled skirt, three belts that were strapped around her waist and one that hung off her left hip, a mesh hoodie with a green-trimmed black jacket with off-shoulder sleeves, black fingerless gloves that reach up to her mid lower arm, gray knee-high boots, a thick green bracelet, a beaded necklace that looked like shark teeth, another long chain necklace with a mermaid fin shaped pendant with an emerald in the middle of the ornament, green-lensed goggles that sat in her super long black hair that faded to green on one side and in her bangs, blue-tinted lips, and what looked like a painted-on facial mark in shades of black and light orange.
Keeping her blue-eyed focus straight ahead and not letting the stares get to her she walked past the three heroes and walked into their science class like she never knew of the scene she had created. The three looking at each other with a skeptical look on each of their faces the BMX biker asked, "Okay, was that something or was that something?"
"I don't know, Em," the yellow-themed girl replied, not sure of what to make of it herself. "By what I saw she really didn't care that she was being watched by every single student in the hallway."
"It looked to me by the way she was dressed she has a deep love of water," the tech geek surmised by his impressive I.Q. "Maybe she's a surfer or something along the lines of that."
"Who knows," Gia concluded, walking towards the same room the new girl went in. "Come on, we better get to class and meet up with Troy and Jake."
Walking inside the trio greeted their fellow comrades Troy the new guy and the Megaforce Red Ranger and Jake the boy who has a crush on the Yellow Ranger and the Megaforce Black Ranger. They too had noticed the newcomer stride in and her odd outfit but didn't stare like the others. The bell ringing the signal for class to begin Mr. Burley, the science teacher and fan of the paranormal, walked in and addressed the students, "Ah, hello class! And I see that we have another new student among us today. Why don't you come up here and introduce yourself?"
The new addition, surprised by the question, looked around for a few seconds, got up and walked to the front of the seating, stood beside the instructor and spoke, "Ah, hi. I'm Aquia Ramemid and I'm a transfer from Ocean Bluff. And if you're wondering why I am dressed like this it's because I have a major love of the sea and I always want to show it in the way I'm garbed. So if you can all stop staring at me like I'm some sort of freakshow I would really appreciate it."
As everyone else was giving each other looks of confusion as to how she knew that they had been thinking that the elder gentleman plugged right along and commented, "Well, I'm sure that we can all refrain from that while we are all gathered together. But before you sit down, I must ask you this one question. What species do you think will survive the end of the world?"
"Well, I have to say the human race of course," the green and black themed girl replied, very sure of her answer. "But I would also have to say the aquatic species, specifically the creatures that live in the deeper levels of the sea."
"I must say that is an interesting answer," Burley concurred, fascinated by the reply. "And why would you say the life that lives in the ocean?"
"I don't have a reason," Aquia said, almost blunt. "I just know that they will just like the human race will. Like the tiniest bird that manages to live through the devastation the aviarians of the sky will be victorious as well."
"What a wonderful response," the science teacher praised, delighted by the young woman's expression of her love of the globe's life. "Thank you very much. Now, if you can return to your seat I can begin our lesson for today."
As she walked past the Red Ranger he passed a glance to his teammates who were sharing the same thoughts as he was thinking: was there something more to this girl than what met the eye or was she just saying what she believed to be true?
A few hours later after the school day ended the five defenders were walking into Ernie's BrainFreeze for a well deserved afterschool snack when they recognized their new fellow student at the counter ordering a drink. Taking a seat near the newcomer she didn't notice the team fill up a table behind her as she was finishing her order. The owner, at first a little put off by the girl's attire but accepted it as just another teen fad, was quickly blending up the drink while asking, "So you're new in town, huh?"
"Yeah," the water-loving girl replied, watching the process take action. "My dad used to live here but moved out to Ocean Bluff where he met my mom and and had me. But some things happened and he decided that a change of scenery would do the both of us good. So here we are, hoping that we can move on from what happened."
"Oh, well, I hope that you'll be okay from what you went through," Ernie consoled, finishing making the concoction. "Alrighty, here you go!"
"Thanks," she replied, grabbing the to-go cup and taking a sip. "Uh, just one question. Do you know if this town has a big body of water? I want to at least have something that will remind me of the big ocean back home."
"I'm not sure," the shop owner answered, wiping down the counter. "Try asking some of the kids around here. I'm sure that they would know."
Giving the gentleman a bewildered look the young woman turned away and started walking to the door when Troy piped up and said, "I know there's a lake in the woods if that would help."
Spinning around to look at the red themed boy she inquired, "You do? Well, that makes me a whole lot better. Can you tell me where it's located? I want to find it before it gets too dark."
"Sure," the leader of the Rangers agreed, pulling out a piece of paper and drawing the layout onto it. "It shouldn't be too hard to find it, it sits on the edge of the woods with a view of the city."
Taking the piece of paper and memorizing the path Aquia told him, "Thank you so much. You have no idea how much this means to me."
As she was turning back around to leave the green and black themed girl stopped for a few seconds, her inner instincts telling her that leaving straight away might make someone suspicious, she faces the group again and adds, "Uh, but I guess there's no need to rush off and go looking for it now. Mind if I join you for a bit?"
"No, not at all," Emma replied, scooting her chair to make room for another. "The term 'the more the merrier' can always apply to us. Come on, you can sit by me."
Grabbing a chair from another table the new girl set it down next to the Pink Ranger and sat in it setting her drink down on the table. Once she was settled Jake asked her, "So, what made you and your dad move out her from the seaside?"
Getting an anxious look on her face the transfer slumped in seat and looked away from the group, fiddling with her necklace for a few minutes before speaking, "Oh, um, and please this has to stay between us I don't want anybody finding out and giving me their pity, but the reason why is that my mom died seven months ago from major dehydration to her system. The memory of it was so bad my dad decided to move me here so that the events wouldn't be able to haunt him anymore."
"Oh man, that's awful," Noah said, feeling really bad for her. "I can't believe that someone could die from not having any water in their system."
"Well, it happened to my mom so it can be possible," Aquia agreed, leaning up. "There's really not a day that goes by that I don't miss her, a day that I think I could have done something that could have done to at least kept her going until we got her to the grott-at-ah general hospital before it was too late."
Fearing that her slip-up would have revealed something the water enthusiast quickly stood up, grabbed her drink, and walked away saying at the same time, "Uh, I'm sorry but I just remembered that I have to go do something for my dad. See you later!"
As she dashed out of the shop the fighters of evil looked at each other with a definite confusion in their eyes as to why the girl rushed off in that kind of hurry. A bit peeved by it Gia commented, "Okay, she is definitely hiding something very important. I'm telling you she was going to say grotto not general hospital."
"You're right," Troy agreed, continuing to stare at the sliding glass doors. "We need to find out what she's keeping to herself and decide if it's going to be an endangerment to society."
Just as he spoke the words the teens' morphers went off, alerting them that dangers was threatening the city. Answering the call the Red Ranger replied, "What is it, Gosei?"
"Rangers, there has been a monster sighting in the woods heading towards the lake," the guardian of Earth informed. "You must go and stop it before disaster befalls the area."
"We're on it," the former newcomer agreed, getting up and leading the others out the door and behind the mall, all five of them morphing into their heroic counterparts, all of them running to their destination to stop their newest enemy from wreaking havoc on the planet surface.
After running out of the ice cream shop having almost revealed her big secret Aquia was heading straight for the lake that Troy had told her about. She had taken several wrong turns but looking at the hand-drawn map a couple of times she managed to find the forest path to the big body of water. Finally slowing down onto the small pier she dropped to her knees gasping for breath for her burning lungs. Taking a few minutes to rest she peered over the edge and stared at the surface of the water, like she was silently communicating with it. Pulling herself into a sitting position she rested her head up on her propped-up leg joint and stared out into the distance, almost beginning to cry at her almost horrible mistake.
But she never knew that off in the far distance a Warstar monster known as Beetledox was heading for the ocean fanatic and along with him was Vrak, one of Admiral Malkor's generals and alien royalty, who were ordered by their leader to infect the water with a dangerous toxin that could render a human or animal totally incapable of using their motor functions, leaving them paralyzed and easier to destroy. The larger alien insectoid, who had been specially chosen, could excrete a fluid that could infect any body of water, whether it be a small puddle or a giant ocean, and just a small dose could spread throughout the entire body of liquid in a matter of seconds. As the two trekked through the woods the larger of the two clarified for the ninth time in a row, "So, what are we doing here again?"
"For the last time, you're here to infect the water supply so when the humans drink it they will be induced with the toxin once they drink it and be helpless to our invasion," the genius explained, clearly annoyed by having to repeat the answer over again. "It is also the reason why we are heading to a lake that I have located so we can test it and be sure that it will be successful. Ah, there it is now. And look, there's even a test subject."
As the two were talking to each other they were nearing their destination and had seen the girl in the distance and had the golden opportunity of a lifetime for their experiment. Hearing something behind her Aquia looked behind her and almost fell into the lake from the sudden surprise. Quickly standing up she looked around for a means of a hiding place but the only place she could use was the body of liquid behind her. Just as the intergalatic creatures reached the edge the young woman had turned around and dove in her body quickly disappearing beneath the surface. Watching the scene unfold the alien noble quickly ordered, "Hurry, intoxicate the area before she resurfaces and makes it out on the other side."
"Right," Beetledox agreed, aiming his mouth at the natural element and preparing to fire the poison.
Just as the monster was about to hock a voice behind the two villains cried out, "Stop right there! Your newest plans for trying to destroy the earth have just come to a halt!"
Both creatures turning to see who it was that stopped them at the last second it was to their disappointment it was the Rangers who had caught up to them but didn't see the green and black themed girl dive in. Growling in frustration Vrak threatened, "You Rangers have interfered with our schemes for the last time. Today shall be the day that you fall before our might once and for all! Beetledox, attack!"
The larger insectoid roared in rage then charged into battle rushing all five heroes at the same time throwing all of them off their guard. Watching the conflict unfold the extraterrestrial was waiting patiently for his moment to strike when he heard the sound of gurgling water swirl behind him. Turning around to see what was going on, the member of royalty gasped in shock as he watched a figure rise up out of the lake, a figure he had never seen before. Up on a shooting geyser of water was what looked like a young woman with very long ebony black hair faded out to green on one side, wearing a one piece one shoulder swimsuit with mesh fabric designed with green and black cloth that covered her chest and slimmed down to a stripe that wrapped around her body, a green and black wrap that hugged her hips, a green and black skirt underneath, green knee-high cuffed boots, two-toned gloves that reached up to her elbows, two matching green bracelets, a belt that hung off of her left hip, a metal crescent moon with a point in the curve strapped to her waist, a chained rose broach hanging off of her shoulders, a green choker, green domed-lensed goggles, strange facial makeup in tones of black and orange, green eyeshadow, green fins that framed her face, and white eyes. In her hands was a large staff with a giant fin that was shaped like the one on her back, wrapped in vines and a pure emerald jewel set on top. Pulling the spectacles down she lowered the fountain down she pointed her weapon at the invader and cried, "How dare you try to infect this precious lake that others use a place of peace and relaxation! For that I will make sure that you are punished quickly and swiftly as possible!"
Swinging her pole up over her head she summoned her powers and thrusted the staff forward, saying, "Oceanic Blast!"
Following the creature's command two more geysers shot up out of the lake and into Vrak, sending him across the clearing and into the forest. Jumping onto the dock she ran after him, easily ducking through the fight between the heroes and the alien which made all of them stop and watch the two duke it out. Reaching the spot where the alien noble landed the young girl cautiously looked around to see where her enemy was he appeared from behind and fired a shot while she was unaware of his presence, the attack hitting its mark and sending the half sea monster to the ground. As she struggled to get up he approached telling her, "You should know better than to attack someone like me. I'm going to show you how much of a mistake you've really made. Prepare to be destroyed off the face of this miserable planet."
As he powered up another blast the green-themed girl quickly rolled out of the way, stood up, and countered, ready with another blast ready to fire, "Well, then I guess that I get a chance to destroy you as well. Tidal Wave Surge!"
Like it came out of thin air a sudden wave of water came flying from behind the finned girl and crashed into the outworlder sending him sprawling back into the clearing landing on the large insectoid, both of them crashing into the lake. The two creatures dragging themselves out of the water the five Rangers came up and surrounded them the newcomer coming through the line and threatening, "Now, if you do not heed me when I say the next time you try to poison the water again you will have to deal with me and these people behind me. So I suggest you get out of here or else I'm going to send you deep into the earth so deep you can't get out!"
"We'll just have to see about that," the genius growled, getting really pissed off. "Beetledox, attack again!"
Both aliens firing their most strongest blasts at all six teen they were sent backwards landing in a crumpled heap giving the villains the chance to escape even though they weren't able to complete their mission. Everyone getting to their feet the defenders quickly encircle the mystery girl so that she couldn't get away. Taking the lead the Red Ranger asked her, "Alright, who are you and where did you come from?"
"All you need to know is that the water called to me and said that it was in danger and asked me to help," the white-eyed girl answered, getting very defensive. "And I don't expect you to try and see that I am one of the enemy. I'm just here to protect the waters of the sister oceans from harm and destruction. It is the duty passed down to all the people of the sea."
"People of the sea?," the Blue Ranger repeated, quickly catching on to what she was talking about. "Are you talking about the myth of mermaids?"
"We are not myths!," the half-merperson contradicted. "We are a mighty race that have been around as long as the humans have. But as of lately, we have died out due to your lack of care and devotion of keeping the seas clean and healthy. As far as I know I am the last of our kind the one and only mermaid to exist in the world, well half mermaid but still probably the last of us all."
"Wait, so you're saying that one of your parents was an actual mermaid," the Yellow Ranger clarified, not believing a word that was said.
Looking at the tiger-emblemed girl with a bit of a scorned look the semi creature answered, "Yes, my mother. She taught me everything that what our people were about: from our mission of protecting the waters of Earth to our highest level of power. She took her duties to heart and never lost her vision even to the day that she died."
Just the mere explanation of her parent confirmed the five fighters for justices' suspicions of who this person was from the start. All of them knowing that they needed to show her that they weren't going to accuse her the group backed up a bit to make things a little relaxed. Taking up a bit of compassion the Pink Ranger consoled, "I'm sorry for your loss. I'm sure that your mother was a truly wonderful person."
"Thank you," the green-themed warrior returned, rather steel-faced then happened to notice the light dimming around them. "Look, I'm sorry, but I have to go. It's not safe for someone like me to be out at night. Maybe we can fight together for once sometime."
Dashing out of the circle and into the forest the friends looked at each other and wondered what she meant by that statement. Seeing that it was getting late they demorphed and walked out and headed back into the city saying their goodbyes and going home for the night. After leaving the group and heading deep into the forest the girl kept looking around to make sure that they didn't follow her and discover her true identity. Feeling that she was truly alone she lifted the goggles off her face and set them back on her head ruffling her hair to get it out of her face. Returning to her human form Aquia leaned up against a tree and sighed a breath of air the day's events rerunning through her mind. Knowing that her dad would probably somewhat believe her she also knew that if she didn't get home she was definitely going to be in trouble. Taking her time the young woman walked backed to the mall, found her motorbike, got on and ignited the engine then drove home making it just in time as the sun set behind her house. Parking in the driveway she went inside where her dad, Thomas Ramemid, was in the kitchen when he heard the front door close and called out, "Hey Ki, I was wondering when you were getting home. How was your day?"
"Well dad, you're really not going to believe what happened but I've got a feeling that when I tell you it's going to rock your world," the teenager replied walking into the room. "I just fought off a pair of aliens with the Power Rangers."
And there you go! Yes, I made it very obvious that the two were one and the same but it's all part of plots for this thing, I swear! I've got a lot for this story and I wanted to try to get this uploaded after the premiere of the Robo Knight's first episode because the bot's going to be in this big time! Alright guys, see you next time!
