A/N: I haven't written anything in a while so, this might be a bit of a stinker. However, it had to be written, or else my muse would have driven me to insanity. In any case, I just lovelovelove Inception and Ariadne/Arthur. Enjoy.
Disclaimer: Neither Inception, nor the characters used in this story belong to me. The rights belong to Mr. Christopher Nolan.
The irony of the situation had not been lost on him. Wasn't it just last night, Ariadne had been working late at the warehouse with him? He was doing last minute research and data
collection, she was putting the last touches to her mazes. He had peered over at her for the...millionth time, admiring the way her chestnut brown hair shone in the dim lamplight, the
angles of her features, the dreamy (no pun intended) look in her eyes that caused them to twinkle... just so. She bit her lip then, in concentration, and he wondered what it would be like
to kiss her. In your dreams, he thought, sardonically. She didn't see him that way. He was just the unappreciated sidekick, in her eyes, the hardass with no life other than his work. Totally
lame. He sighed.
Again, the irony of the situation had not been lost on him. She'd worried about the stares they were receiving from the projections, everywhere. "They're looking for the Dreamer",
he'd told her. It was then he did the unthinkable. He blurted out the first thought that came to his mind. It was stupid, really, he was trained not to do that, think on his feet like that
without really considering the consequences, etc. "Quick, give me a kiss." As soon as the words left his mouth, he wanted to take them back. He was appalled at himself, truly. He was,
however, not given much time to panic over the humiliating gravity of what he had just proposed. It was as her soft feather light lips brushed against his, and the smell of vanilla,
cinnamon, graphite, and brand new paper filled his nostrils that the misplaced thought had popped into his head. Quite literally in your dreams, he'd mused.
She pulled away, looked around, the eyes still boring into them. "They're still watching us" she'd said, slightly panicked. "It was worth a shot", he replied, smiling to himself at the
double meaning. He got up, took her hand and lead her to the elevator. As he pressed the button for the fifth floor, he couldn't help missing the feeling of her lips on his. "Of course," he
murmured to himself, "In your dreams."
A/N: Ah, I'm not too happy with how it turned out. I'm also pretty sure this has been done before, so there go my originality points. Hope you guys liked it, at least.
