I tried to close my eyes as I watched the seconds ticking away from the digital clock that kept game time. I couldn't shut my eyes, however, I continued to stare at the seconds vanishing in front of my eyes.

I looked up in the bleachers to see everyone sitting or standing, waving signs or shouting my name. Anita and Aldesse had their eyes fixed on me, crossing their fingers and praying that Sam would come.
I was praying that Sam would come as well.

Those gathered began to count the seconds down, their voices ripping through my head.
"Nine…….eight…..seven……" The continued counting, counting away my precious seconds. He was no coming; he was not, he could not forgive me for what I had done. I was now able to shut my eyes but I could do nothing to block out the yelling of the crowd.
"Three…….two………one." The crowd finished counting; I let out a short breath as I realized that I was still alone on the pitchers mound.
The crowd became silent and many retook their seats; I could vaguely hear Kristen mutter, "That is so wrong."
I couldn't bear to open my eyes and stare at the crowd of people who had come to see me stand for five minutes on the pitchers mound, waiting for Sam Coleson to appear. More then ever, I couldn't bear not to see Sam standing in front of me.
I let the microphone slip from my hands; there was a echoing thud as the microphone hit the dirt of the pitchers mound.
Without warning, the crowd began to cheer and clap. I opened my eyes to see what was causing such an uproar and felt my heart leap into my throat. Sam was running down the stairs that led to the pitchers mound.
When he reached me, he pulled me close to him and kissed me. My first kiss; until that moment, I had never been kissed. Everything became hazy and the only thing that was in focus was Sam and I, no one else seemed to matter anymore.
When he broke the kiss he stared at me, looking into my eyes. "Sorry, I'm late, it took me forever to get here." He said.
I smiled. "I know what you mean." I said.
He kissed me again and everything became hazy again. I stopped thinking after that.
