The One
"The One! We must find The One!" Bluestar proclaimed.
"But, who is The One?" Tallstar asked.
"We don't know." Crookedstar answered for Bluestar.
"But, how will we find her or him?" Nightstar rasped.
"They must pass a test," Bluestar mewed, "Whoever passes the test shall be known as The One and will save us all!"
Several moons later on a dark and rainy day in Starclan, Bluestar and Tallstar stood, drenched, under a dead tree.
"Who passed the test?" Tallstar asked.
"No one," Bluestar growled.
"Then who..." Tallstar trailed off.
All of a sudden Nightstar leaped under the dead tree, startling both Tallstar and Bluestar.
"Did she pass the test? Did she?" Nightstar asked excitedly.
"She didn't pass the test," Bluestar hissed angrily, "No one did."
"Well, are you going to do another test?" Nightstar demanded.
Bluestar paused. "We will," she decided after a while.
"What's the test going to be?" Tallstar asked.
"I can't tell you," Bluestar replied.
Nightstar hissed in frustration.
Crookedstar bounded into the sheltering tree. "Who passed the test?" he asked.
"No one," Bluestar, Tallstar and Nightstar growled at the same time.
"Oh," Crookedstar mewed.
"We're going to be doing another test," Bluestar mewed to Crookedstar, "And if no passes then..." Bluestar sucked in her breath, "We're going to have to give up looking for The One."
Tallstar gasped. "But we can't!"
"It will mean the end of Starclan and the Clans," Crookedstar mewed, horrified.
"And Shadowclan's just starting to become strong again," Nightstar sighed.
"Excuse me," a voice mewed. The four cats whirled around.
"Up here," the voice mewed.
"Spottedleaf!" Bluestar mewed, when all four cats looked up.
Spottedleaf gulped. "I bring a newcomer," she gasped.
"Who?" Nightstar asked.
Spottedleaf took a deep breath. "Firestar."
"No!" All four cats wailed.
Firestar stepped out beside Spottedleaf.
"Firestar, no!" Bluestar cried out.
Firestar appeared grim. "It was too late," he mewed as if he were continuing a conversation with Spottedleaf, "By the time Lionblaze and Dovewing reached me I was already gone."
"How did you die?" Tallstar whispered.
"I was attacked by a Deathclan warrior."
"Deathclan?" Crookedstar asked.
"Deathclan, it's a clan, well not an actual clan because they don't follow the warrior code, formed of loners, rogues and kittypets. Kind of like Bloodclan."
"Is Bramblestar leader?" Nightstar asked.
"Yes," Spottedleaf answered. "We were just on our way to his leader ceremony."
"What?" Bluestar leaped up. "And you didn't bother to tell me?"
"You can come with us," Spottedleaf mewed.
"Okay," Bluestar mewed. She glanced back towards the other three cats. "Meet here tomorrow," she mewed. The leaders dipped their heads.
The next day, Firestar with them, the four leaders met under the tree.
Bluestar had explained to Firestar about The One on the way there.
"I have set the test," she announced.
"Good," Crookedstar mewed.
"When will we now the results?" Tallstar asked.
"I don't know. A couple days. Remember they must figure out the test, too."
"Will we tell The One when we find out who it is?" Firestar asked.
Bluestar nodded. "Yes, in a dream."
"How will we find out who the one is?" Nightstar.
Bluestar shrugged. "We will find out, somehow."
A few days later. "Bluestar! Bluestar!" Firestar cried, awaking Bluestar from her nap, "I know who The One is!"
Bluestar was at Firestar's side in a second. Crookedstar, Nightstar and Tallstar were there too.
Firestar led them to a deep and dark forest.
"This reminds me of The Dark Forest," Tallsatr muttered.
"There," Firestar mewed, "In that mud puddle."
Bluestar peered in the puddle.
All the leaders peered in also.
The name in the puddle was;
"Hollyleaf!" Bluestar cried. "Hollyleaf is the one and shall save us all!"
