Prologue
Once upon a time, there was a beautiful castle, nestled in the hills above Fiore. The palace shone and shimmered with an ethereal light during the day, and at night, glowed to light the way for travelers. The people of Fiore loved their rulers, who ruled over them with benevolence and fairness, regardless of their class.
It is said that King Heartfilia was so loved by his subjects that he claimed he was the happiest ruler in the whole world, and he possessed the rarest and most beautiful of curiosities. His most beautiful possession was his wife, Queen Heartfilia, and he treasured her above all riches in the world.
The two rulers loved their subjects, but it was nowhere near the amount that they both loved each other. There had never been a couple so deeply in love as the two of them, and the entire kingdom rejoiced when their love produced a daughter, and heir to their kingdom.
But the happiness would not last. Several years after giving birth, the Queen grew ill and began to waste away. A cure was sought out, but the disease took the Queen too quickly for even the speediest of riders. When she died, she begged the King to find love again- she could not bear to have him and her child alone after she passed, and she knew he would need to find a Queen and mother to their daughter and their kingdom. Her only request was that he only married a woman who was far more beautiful and kinder than she had ever been. The King promised her this, and she left this world with a smile on her face.
There was never a sadder day in Fiore's history than when the Queen died. The streets were decorated in black, and there were no dry eyes when her carriage passed through the towns. The King and little Princess came along with, the King stony-faced as they placed her casket in the Temple of Kings while his daughter sobbed uncontrollably.
After that, the Kingdom of Fiore began to change. Gone were the days of happiness- even the castle gleamed with a sad air. The King shut himself away- his daughter was schooled by tutors, out of sight and out of mind as he threw himself into is work. Hundreds of maidens and princesses came to the castle, hoping to win the King's heart, but it remained impassive and hard. They were all turned away, and the kingdom began to despair that no one would ever bring back the happy King who'd loved his wife so deeply.
Hello!
Kitkat here, and with a brand new story for all of you! :D
Honestly, I don't know if I'm going to finish this any time soon, but my new job has been fucking hard with my life, as is my boyfriend. I've fallen into a rut, and I keep trying to write my book, but it's been 8 years since I started that fucker, and I can't get into the swing of it these days. So I'm going to try writing something else.
Don't worry though- I will finish this. Someday. But it will be a journey we'll take together.
So, back story. Why a story called Dragon Skin you ask?
Well, I wanted a story that was unique, and while this story is WAY messed up, I'm going to try and make an adaptation using everyone's favorite characters from Fairy Tail. Which is why this is going to be rated T, because there's some shit that will go on make you go "WTF Kitkat. What did I just read?"
I said it will be unique.
Anyways, I've got the first chapter basically all written up, and I'll be posting it soon after I edit it a bit.
Be warned. Here there be dragons and fucked up bullshit. HAVE FUN!
