Author's Note: I've been meaning to write a slightly cute but meaningful HashiMada fic for a while now.

Summary: Hashirama and Madara both agree that such a beautiful day shouldn't be wasted on fighting.

The flowing blue waves of water were always soothing to Hashirama and were the reason why he always came to the river to clear his thoughts and relax. Well, that was only half of the reason. Hashirama knew that the river had an irresistible appeal to his friend, Madara Uchiha, and always looked forward to seeing his friend when he wasn't trying to take out the village. He knew it was treason to Konoha, to let Madara come so close and not engage him, but he just couldn't bring himself to face his friend in combat on such a lovely day. It wouldn't do the beauty of the earth justice.

"Here again, hm?" A familiar voice brought Hashirama back from his pacifistic thoughts. He offered Madara a warm smile as he turned his head and looked up at him.

"I was counting on seeing you here today." The Senju calmly stated and paused briefly. "...I wanted to see you. To talk."

Madara sat beside him after a moment and looked at the ground. "Talking never really helped me much. I'm guessing that you wish to discuss a ceasefire agreement so that I won't attack you or your village."

"Actually no. That's not what I wanted to talk about." Hashirama quickly interjected, catching Madara by surprise. "I just wanted to talk about life in general. It would really ruin this gorgeous day if we talked about war and bloodshed don't you think? I like trying to remain optimistic in uncertain times."

Madara gave him a slightly annoyed look. "So you're basically calling me a nuisance."

"Kind of." Hashirama sheepishly admitted, rubbing the back of his head nervously. "But you're still a friend and I enjoy your company. I hate it when we fight so I want to save the exchange of nasty words and blows for the battlefield. As you can see, this peaceful little area isn't suitable to be a battlefield."

The black-haired Uchiha listened quietly, taking the words in and analyzing them. Hashirama wasn't lying; the river surrounded by dark green grass and obscured by the tall, majestic trees was no place to fight. He loved coming here, even more so than Hashirama did, and he wouldn't like to destroy it simply because of his inability to maintain peace with his friend. It wouldn't do any good to argue with Hashirama when he agreed with the man so he simply nodded.

"I see your point. It's lovely here." Madara smiled thoughtfully and looked at Hashirama. "I suppose that I can afford to give you a break today."

Hashirama chuckled at the teasing words. "I'm glad. H-hey Madara?"

"Hm?" Madara was leaning against Hashirama now. "Does this bother you?"

Hashirama shook his head in response and smiled. It didn't bother him. In fact, it made him happy that Madara trusted him enough to initiate casual physical contact. It was because of this that he believed that somewhere deep in Madara's heart, the Uchiha just wanted to forget about his loyalty to his clan and be friends without restrictions. Hashirama wanted to hold onto the hope that Madara would someday realize their bond could not be completely severed.

"No...I'm just happy Madara. I like when we can openly be friends."

The Uchiha sighed in mutual understanding. "I like it too. I never want tomorrow to come."

The two friends knew it was inevitable. Tomorrow they would be enemies. Everyday was tomorrow.
