Mark of Evil

Summary: He was a marked man, he always had been. The Dark Mark was no different, although this time, instead of it being a mark of depression and angst, it was a mark of evil. - Snape-centric drabble. Response to the "Vivid Characters/Scenes in 100 Words or Less" challenge on HPFC.

Blank ink spread across his arm, just under the skin. It took the form of a skull and a snake, death and poison. It was a mark of evil.
"Do you swear to serve me, Severus?" the Dark Lord asked, red eyes glittering. "From this day until your last?"
"I do, Master." Severus Snape told him. "Until the day that I die."
The Dark Lord smiled. A cold, cruel smile, but a smile nonetheless.
"Then let us begin."

A/N: This was actually quite a challenge to write, but it was fun. It really made me think - what was it like to swear yourself to someone as evil as Lord Voldemort? So, this is what I came up with.
