I Love You
Soubi truly loved Ritsuka.
He often told him so. Every day when he would meet the young boy outside of school, before Yuiko or Yayoi or any other one of Ritsuka's classmates had the chance to walk up to him, Soubi would speak the words in a hushed voice so that the other schoolchildren would not hear, causing Ritsuka to flush crimson.
Every so often when the Fighter pair would sit lazily in Soubi's apartment, he would repeat the words and watch the adorable blush materialize again on the boy's face for a moment, just before he would scowl and accuse the older man of being a pervert or an idiot or whatever childish insult his mind could produce.
The words seemed to pour perpetually out of Soubi's mouth, since the time they had first met. They had also been there when the unlikely unit had shared their second-ever kiss – shackled, minds clouded with pain as they battled the pair who called themselves Breathless.
And they would be there with every kiss they would share from then on.
Even on the nights when Soubi would appear on Ritsuka's balcony and find him sitting silently in his room, bruised and trembling after another ruthless beating from his mother. It was all he could do to sit and hold the boy wordlessly as he rode out the worst of his tears. But even so, he could not stop the words from filling the silence in his mind. I love you, Ritsuka. I love you. I love you.
Soubi could not wait for the day when his words would truly reach Ritsuka.
