Summary: Between Season 3 and Season 4 - Sam after Dean's death
Dean was dead.
No Trickster magic this time, no syrupy deceit or conceit. His brother was in Hell and Sam had tried everything, from blood spells to voodoo, demon deals to begging. Nothing worked, nothing got better, and Ruby was offering him the only solace that enabled him to feel anything at all.
Vengeance.
It was a trap there was no way out of; even death wouldn't free him and he knew it.
So Sam stopped fighting against the rage and fury, started swallowing the poisonous demon blood Ruby fed him because it burned away the fear of being alone.
