Alright everyone, this is another giftfic and it's also a spin-off from Kingdom Hearts: The Stuff of Heroes. This one's for Norkix. Thanks for your review! I hope you like it!

Housekeeping

{Riku}

"No." Riku replied.

"Why not?" Yuffie countered. "It'll make your life a lot easier."

"I'm not apologizing to a broom, Yuffie." Riku continued levelly. There were some things that a man just couldn't sacrifice unless the situation was desperate: his pride and his dignity. And this situation wasn't desperate by any stretch of the imagination—it was just annoying.

Riku had to admit, the whole ordeal was rather ridiculous.

Yuffie had broken down after Squall Leonhart had been killed in Radiant Garden at the hands of Maleficent. During said breakdown, she'd completely destroyed every breakable item in her room, and Riku had tried to be a gentleman by helping her clean up—unfortunately he'd forgotten about the anthropomorphic broom-servants that perpetually roamed the halls.

As a result, Riku had accidentally offended the one of the broom when it arrived to perform it's twice-a-day cleaning of the room.

Riku had tried to handle the situation gently, but as Yuffie continually pointed out, he hadn't actually apologized.

And now Sweeps, as he'd named the thing, was torturing him, well not torturing per se, but it wasn't exactly being nice to him either.

"Why not?" Yuffie repeated. "Maybe it's time you swallowed your pride and said 'I'm sorry.' It couldn't hurt."

Riku chuckled. "Sora said the same thing...Let me go find Sweeps."

Riku left the cockpit, and found Sweeps in the kitchen. "We need to talk."

Sweeps cocked its handle to the side. I'm listening.

"Look..." he began. I can't believe I'm doing this. "I'm not really a touchy-feely kind of guy, but I wanted to...apologize for being a jerk earlier. I wasn't trying to hurt your feelings or anything...I was just trying to help Yuffie."

Sweeps placed it's hands lower on its handle, where its hips would be if it were human. Oh really?

Riku sighed. It's never easy is it? "She's going through a really rough time right now...I just want to...be there for her, you know?"

Sweeps held out a hand for Riku to shake. Alright, I'll let it slide...this time.

Riku gripped it firmly. "Thanks."

And then, Yuffie bustled into the room, looking a little worse for the wear. "Riku, I don't feel so good..." She moaned. "Do you know where the bathroo-urrrlch!" Yuffie retched, spewing her lunch all over the floor. The raven-haired ninja blushed. "Sorry."

"Don't worry about it," Riku consoled as Yuffie slumped stumbled over to the sink and retched again. "I'll get the mop."

Sweeps snapped to attention and pointed at him. Don't even think about it.

Riku chuckled.
