"Wow I gave out so many chocolates today but I didn't get any in return. Do ho ho" said a saddened Akari as she reminisced on the events of the day. Yes Valentine's Day. The day when friends and lovers exchange gifts.
The redhead thought she had many friends despite her lack of presence but why didn't she receive anything.
I am always so generous toward them. I am always a friend in need. I guess it doesn't matter to them though.
She heard the knob of her door turn and glanced in the direction of the door to see her older sister, Akane standing in the doorway holding up a giant heart-shaped chocolate that read "Dear Akari".
Akari rushed towards her Akane and pulled her in for a tight hug.
Akane was taken aback by her reaction. She knew her sister would love it but she didn't anticipate Akari's reaction. Akari buried her head in her sister's lower torso. The 18 year old girl heard her little sister sniveling. Her little body was shaking. Akane felt her clothes dampen with Akari's tears.
She looked down at the tear-stained face of her sister. "Akari, what's wrong?"
"I-I'm sorry onee-chan. It's just that…" She trailed off. She couldn't continue her sentence for she had thought it was silly. She had been holding it back for a long time. She needed to let it out. She needed to know that someone cared for her. She felt unloved. All she needed right now was a shoulder to cry on. Who else to provide this comfort other than Akane, who had always given her her undivided attention ever since she was born.
The older girl rested the chocolate on Akari's desk and squeezed her hand as she took her to the bed.
The sisters were now sitting on the bed. Akari rested her head on her sister's shoulders as more tears poured out. Akane just stroked her short red hair.
"Sis, you know you can tell me anything. What's wrong? Please don't cry. Please don't cry. I'm here. I'm all ears."
The younger girl looked at the concerned expression on her big sister's face.
She blew her nose as she spoke. "I'm sorry Akane-chan. I love the chocolate. I see you put great effort into making it for me and designing it. I'm truly grateful to have such a caring and wonderful sister like you, unlike my so-called friends. It seems to me you are the only one who has been a true friend to me. I didn't mean to cry or make you sad so I'm sorry."
Akane listened with surprise. She didn't know much about Akari's friends but she felt sad to hear that they did not treat her Akari right. Part of her felt bad for Akari but another part of her was also happy that she was able to comfort her sister in her time of need.
"I'm like her knight in shining armor," Akane thought.
She smiled sympathetically at the girl in front of her. She then took Akari's left hand and placed it on her chest. "I'm sorry to hear about your friends Akari-chan but you will have to live with them throughout your school years. After all school is like a second home. But Akari, I want you to know that I will always be here if you want anything. I will go to the ends of the earth for you. I am here and will always be here as a sister and as a friend."
She drew her little sister into a tight hug.
Akari stopped crying and smiled. "I love you Akane. And thank you."
"Now let's eat some chocolate, shall we?"
Akane felt overwhelmed that Akari looked at her as not only an older sister but as a friend too.
"Happy Valentine's Day sis" Akane said with chocolate in her mouth.
"Same to you."

A/N: I felt that the anime should have given us a fluffy scene after Akane came in with the chocolate so I decided to write one myself. Please review.
