"Stop!" I growl, kicking Niall and Dev are pushing me, forcing me somewhere.

They'll do anything Baz wants and he wants me gone.

The ramparts.

The two shove me through the door and slam it behind me. I automatically yank on the door, but they've spelled it shut.

Then I hear the sobbing. I turn around and spot a well-dressed figure with raven black knees are hunched to his chest, his arms are folded on his knees, and his head is resting in the crook of his elbows.

"Baz?" I ask, approaching him slowly.

He looks up, surprised, and I notice that his eyes are red and puffy. Tears are streaming down his pale face. His storm grey eyes are still pouring.

"Go away, Snow." he groans, his voice ragged and cracked.

instead of telling him that i can't, I say, "What's wrong?"

"It's none of your business!"

"Please, Baz," I beg. "Tell me."

He glares at me pitifully. "My mother died today, all right! Is that what you wanted to hear? Gonna run off and tell the Mage?"

I sit down next to him. I've never gone through this kind of pain because I have nobody to lose. I don't know what to say.

Then I do something I never thought I would do.

I hold him. I hold him until he stops crying, but even after his tears are gone, I don't let go.

I like this. I like him. I've always liked him.

"You can let go now," he whispers. "I'm fine."

I lift his chin up to look into his eyes that I love. "I don't want to."

And he kisses me and it's soft and it's unsure.

When he pulls back, he looks down, ashamed. "I'm sorry."

I flash him a half smile and kiss him again, harder this time. "Don't be."

He pushes back and I love it. In fact I've never loved anything more. My heart is hammering in my chest and I can feel Baz smiling.

"We're so so- Morgan!" Dev yelps, his eyes wide and his hand still holding open the door. Niall is behind him, staring. "Baz! That's Simon!"

We jump apart and I'm blushing furiously, but Baz is scowling at him.

"Yes," he says slowly, as if speaking to a baby. "It is. Out with the old."

The two leave, compelled by magic.

"Where were we?" he asks, smirking.
