"I Am Here."
I just finished TWEWY last night! Yay! I'm so happy! Although the last boss killed me far too many times... :( So I tried fighting him in easy mode. And I got killed 5 times. Argh! Finally, I understood what they were doing and managed to use it. Yay! Next time, I'll try to fight that last boss in normal mode. Heehee...
I saw a nice picture of Joshua last night. I can't remember the site though, but it was really nice and I was inspired to make this fic. This is a JoshuaxNeku shounen ai fic. They don't belong to me. I hope this one's okay. Thanks for reading.
"I Am Here."
Perhaps it could be called a love letter of sorts. It was plain and simple. His hand writing was neat and beautiful despite its simplicity. But it was His handwriting after all. And he loved it even though the words were simple and contained only one sentence.
I am here.
It was just that. That one sentence and so few words though back then He didn't really speak like that. But he knew the weight of those words more than anything else. It was his most constant companion. Those words that echoed whenever he was alone on those cold nights and with him during his happiest days.
I am here.
The paper itself was nothing special. It was just white paper. Very plain. But it had been worn a bit from folding and unfolding and it was left in his pocket after he returned. He kept it safely inside locket he had bought several weeks after his return to the RG. There was no picture in the locket and there was no signature. Only the small piece of paper with His written words.
I am here.
At first, he didn't quite understand it. Why would Joshua leave something like this in his pocket? Didn't he know he hadn't forgiven him? He thought he probably never would. But as the days and the months and the years flew by, he began to miss him and that small piece of paper became his comfort. A remembrance. A memento of the things he cherished most. His last payment.
I am here.
And yet he isn't here at the same time. There was no physical manifestation of him here. No arrogant smirk to tease him, no biting wit to confuse him, no pale hands to grasp his hand, no lips to say those words.
I am here.
Neku knew how he felt for the one who wrote those words. He was responsible for his world, the one who gave him friends, the one who made him open his eyes and ears and just finally look, the one who he trusted even though he did an unforgivable thing to him. Neku knew. He missed him. And holding onto the faith that what was written in that cherished piece of paper was true, Neku told him so out loud, while standing in the place of his once-death. His words echoed around the walls where CAT's graffiti was painted. And then…
I am here.
It made him almost cry at those words. There was no one around. No one to see. But he was not surprised when he felt strong arms circle him, warm breath on his ear and the comfort of being held close by a dear, loved one spreading in his chest.
"Joshua..." He whispered. With his eyes closed he could almost imagine him standing behind him, holding him close to comfort him. Arms gentle but firm at the same time. Here he felt safer than he had ever been.
"Joshua..."
Hush...
And he did.
I am here...
Perhaps, it could be called a confession of sorts. And it was plain and simple. But the words were warm and beautiful despite its so few words. But Neku loved it.
