Link pushed his green hat back over his shoulder, out of the way. He smiled sheepishly at his dinner guest, although it was more a "midnight snack" guest. The two hooligans couldn't let the headmaster, Zelda's father, catch them. Of course the headmaster had high hopes for Link and Zelda's future, especially after Link had saved the girl, but the headmaster would still punish any student caught out of their dorms, including the Hero himself.

Blushing slightly, Link leaned in close to his guest's lovely face, which was nicely lit in the candle light.
"You have beautiful eyes," he whispered. "And your skin looks so soft...I-I don't mean to sound too creepy about it all, but I have to say this...I think I'm in love with you, Pipit," Link stammered nervously.

Pipit smiled and gently took Link's face in his hand, pulling him closer. "I know, Link. You're an awful liar." Pipit swiftly and lightly kissed his friend's soft lips and smiled again, rising from the table. "We must meet again, my friend, but maybe sometime during the day tomorrow instead of at night like this. Such a sneaky boy you are," Pipit whispered softly as he made his way out of the dining hall and out of the dim light. Link, dazed, stayed seated, his mouth hanging open.

Link had never expected his longtime crush to actually feel the same way, especially since Zelda and Karane were still students at the Knight Academy along with them. Link knew that Karane had a huge crush on Pipit, and that sparked a little unrest with him because what if Pipit found out and chose her over him? And so in a desperate attempt to draw his crush's attention to him, he set up little surprises here and there of flowers and candies, only to realize that he was a secret admirer that could very well be Karane in Pipit's mind. So Link, after flying his Loftwing for a while to think and nearly falling out of the sky a few times, decided it was time to ask Pipit to dinner and tell him the truth. He had to do it or his wonderful, handsome Pipit. So, sliding a note under his door, Link had wished with all his heart that he'd get his chance and he finally did. Now that everything had been said and done and Pipit had confessed to mutual feelings, Link couldn't stop smiling.

Suddenly a click of a door pulled Link from his thoughts. He quickly blew out the candle and dropped under a nearby table, his heartbeat quickening. He watched the door as footsteps grew closer. Beginning to sweat, Link pulled his hat over his shoulder and dabbed his forehead with it. Time seemed to slow as Link crouched under the table, waiting to either be caught or be overlooked. He watched as a pair of bare feet walked sluggishly passed the door to the dining hall and towards the bathroom. Link sighed and slowly emerged from beneath the table, quickly picking up the candle and plates from the "dinner" he and his love had earlier. Scanning the halls, he rushed quietly up the large staircase towards the upper doors of the academy. Moving like a fox on fire, Link ran towards the large potted plant at the end of the hall and crouched beside it, looking around once more. Tucking the candle and plates behind the pot, he smiled to himself, feeling accomplished for getting away with this.

Standing up slowly, Link sighed and shook his arm, relaxing his shoulders. He smiled and began strolling down the hall, proud of himself on his achievements of the night. However, before he could even reach the top of the staircase, he glanced over the railing to see Zelda staring back at him, her arms crossed and a suspicious look in her eyes. He'd been caught.
