Jade leaned against the window of her and Beck's car, watching the world whirl bye in a blur. The scenery blured only partcialy because they were speeding by at 60 mph; the other reason being the tears building up in her eyes. She wiped them away. They wouldn't fall. Not now.

Quite music from the radio could be heard, but other than that there was no sound. Once Beck inhaled deeply and tried to say something, anything to make her feel better, but how could he when that's what he needed? Eventually he settled for a simple 'I'm sorry' which got an appropriatly simple answer- 'For what?' No attempt of a conversation was made after that.

The outside between the car and the house was colder than it was supposed to be, but Jade put on a smile anyway as they reached the door. Immediatly after entering their home she and Beck were greated by their bouncing 3 year old daughter Elise, all dressed in her pajamas and eager to show off her picture she had drawn. She was followed by Cat, who's smile faded as soon as she realized something wasn't right. She hugged the young child goodbye, acting much like a 3 year old herself, and while Elise explained her picture to her daddy, she pulled Jade outside.

"Jade, what's wrong?" Cat was concerned for her friend; she had never seen her this way. Jade stared at the ground, slightly shivering because she had already taken her coat off.

"Nothing" She said in a small shaky voice. Cat wasn't convinced. She rose an eyebrow and stared at Jade untill their eyes met, silently pleading her to tell her.

"Is it-" She couldn't bare to finish, afraid that if it was true, it would only hurt her more. She didn't need to. Jade slightly nodded, clenched her jaw and swallowed in an attempt to stop the tears.

"Oh Jade" Cat breathed and went in for a hug. "I'm sorry." Jade would have once again asked 'For what', but afraid that any words would break the dam she had built, she remained silent.

A minute later Cat pulled away to reveal just a few small tears on her cheeks, which she quickly wiped away. Jade managed a thanks, and pulling her purse just a little higher up, Cat nodded once and left.

Jade sighed as she headed back inside, once again putting her forced smile on. Elise couldn't know anything was wrong. She was to young and innocent to know about the cruel unfairness of the world. She would sadly find out soon enough.

At story time, Beck chose the happiest book they had. While saying good night that night, Jade hugged her just a little tighter then usuall.

After saying goodnight Beck and Jade began to clean the house, destroyed bye their half child half tornado. Still, no words were spoken. While doing the dishes, right there in the middle of the kitchen, Jade finally let the tears fall. Nothing over the top, no gross sobbing, just a few stray ones. Until Beck wrapped her in his arms. All the pressure from that day, just flowing out like a river with no way to stop it. And though Jade never noticed it, Beck cried too. He covered it up by trying to comfort Jade, giving her long kisses on the top of her head. It scared him just how fragile and vunerable she was. She wasn't the same hard headed girl that she was just earlier that day.

They stayed like that untill Jade had fallen asleep on Beck's chest, her breathing now steady.

From that day on, they began to heal, though it was no quick process. And things got better, eventually almost entirely normal. But on some rare nights, when she's all alone, she still cries.
