The light gleaming off my hand caused me to squint as I stared at the silver appendage. Rotating my wrist slightly, I was frightened by the lack of nerve connection. I couldn't feel a thing…yet I knew I was controlling it. The fingers flexed, startling me. I couldn't believe this auto-mail was a part of me now.
I moved my left arm to compare the two parts of me. Making a fist with the right, it was almost impossible for me to tell how hard I was gripping my steel fingers. I released slowly after the joints began to shiver.
A soft hand descended upon my right arm, and the only way I could tell was by seeing the small fingers touch the steel. I raised my head to look at Winry.
"You're pressing too hard." She said simply. I narrowed my eyes. I knew that…. well just learned that.
"Yeah." I said, turning away from her on the white bed. I felt the bed shift slightly as Winry sat beside me and hugged my shoulders. The right side felt cold. I decidedly looked downward in case she was watching my face… I didn't want her to see my frustrated tears forming.
I reached out my new arm ahead of me, trying to grasp the air. Winry moved away from the bed and I tried my hardest not to sniff as she clasped my metal palm with her small hand.
We stayed like that until Auntie Pinako called us down for dinner.
