He looked down and into her astonishing eyes, how much could eyes really sparkle? No more than hers, of that he was sure. But it wasn't only her eyes that had made him fall for her; it was all the little details. Like the way she laughed, the way she looked at him and even the way she walked. Not to speak of her way of making everything sound interesting. Even such a boring thing as how not to brush your hair sounded like the most fascinating thing if spoken by her. He couldn't quite remember the first time he realized that he had fallen in love with her, but it was certainly not the first time he laid eyes on her. At that point she was the most egocentric and non-caring woman walking the earth, and all she cared about was to get married, preferably to someone rich, who could give her a position and it didn't hurt if he was good-looking and exciting! He began to wonder why someone like her could care for someone like him, a lawyer, and a middle-class man with no interest in living life the way she was used to. But still, there was this spark between them, from that very first moment. She must have felt it too, or clearly she had, or else they hadn't been where they were today. He decided not to think of what had been, with all the twists and turns, but focused on their future, because now they finally had one. His heart raced when he was thinking of all their days to come, together at last! He looked at her again, and she had fallen asleep against his chest, looking peaceful. He thought of what he had told her the other night, the night before the big day. That he never could be happy with anyone else as long as she walks the earth. How true it was! He had to make sure that he would tell her this every day, every morning as they woke up in each other's arms, every night they fell asleep close together. He smiled, whispered that he loved her and kissed her hair. He closed his eyes and began nodding off.
