Author's Notes: Well, this is the beginning of what I hope will be a decent Teen Titan poetry collection. I'll be moving some of my older poetry into later chapters, along with new ones as they're written. But for starters, this is one of those new poems, which came about after someone emailed me and suggested that I write one based on the episode 'Spellbound.' It took me quite a while to get in the poetry frame of mind to come up with something, but I'm really pleased with how this one finally came out. It's specifically based on the point when Malchior made the flower out of the book pages, and it's written from Raven's point of view, of course.

:Paper Rose:

I have a paper rose
With the scent of books and ink,
And just a hint of magic spell
Between its folds, I think.

It mocks me, showing bits of words
And letters in its flower,
Which disappear in petal grooves
So no one can decipher.

So fooled by all his silver lies
And with emotions smitten,
It did not cross my mind to look
At what was truly written.

I recognize them now, of course,
For what they simply are:
Black words of foul, forbidden spells
And magics of the dark.

They speak of what I should have seen,
Of lies and vast illusions,
And tell me that the things I felt
Were cruel self-delusions.

How ironic to be blinded
By those things which I deny:
My own repressed emotions
Now remind me of the lie.

Still I have my paper rose,
Though it's scent is cruel and fake,
And I will keep it always
To remember my mistake.
