Prologue

The intrusion in his brain was making him tired. The memories did nothing but anger and agitate him further. There he lay trying to sleep and the memories come flooding through his mind as if he were flipping through a photo album revealing his darkest secrets. He could here the words his father had spoken to him after he mentioned abandoning 'the master'. For that he knew he would pay a price. He just didn't know it would be so great. For Merlin's sake, he was only a small child who barely understood how to tie his shoes. How would he know the effect refusing 'the master' would have on his father.

Finally deciding that he wasn't going to get any sleep, he got out of bed and headed for the dormitory door. He needed to go for a walk to clear his mind and reflect on his past.

Only a month after telling his father of his decision, the punishments were almost unbearable. He made a choice to tell his father he was wrong and that the punishments were justified. Even after that proclamation, the treatment didn't cease. It only made him realize that he had no choice but to obey his father. He father wouldn't accept anymore defiance. Not from a child. Especially, not his child. He was angry at himself for saying that to begin with.

Years went by and nothing changed. During the day he followed his usual routine. Breakfast with his parents, non-stop hours of training, followed by dinner and him being dismissed to his room. His family put on smiling faces thinking he didn't notice how miserable life in the manor was for them. None of that bothered him much. He was used to the pretend family act. It was what came after dinner that made him wish he were dead.

Draco Malfoy is horrid, self- centered, and insensitive. Or, that's what the world is lead to believe. No one will ever know how deeply he feels, how his emotions form. People think his life is easy. He has money, a mansion, and a father with influence is society. The kid could have anything he wanted. Well, they're wrong. His life is nothing like that. He has to endure what no child his age should.

The torture was part of it. The torture of having no one to understand or sympathize. Even the great Draco Malfoy needed help sometimes. He's stuck in a cell with no way to escape. Trapped.
