Intruder
"Honey your breath stinks." Jackie mumbled in the middle of the night.
She was partially awake but her eyes were still closed.
"What?" Nick answered sleepily, only half awake himself.
Jackie finally opened her eyes,
"Ahhh" she screamed because the brown eyes she was looking into were not Nick's.
Nick's eyes flew open and he flipped on the lamp that was on his night stand.
"Dolly get down." Jackie scolded the puppy, whose front two paws were on the bed.
The dog hopped down.
"Good girl, go sleep in Jasmine's room on your bed."
The dog just stared at her.
Jackie sighed. "Come on." She said as she climbed out of bed.
As she started walking out of the room she heard laughing. She turned around and noticed Nick was chuckling to himself.
"What's so funny?" Jackie asked.
"So, I have bad breath huh?" Nick said with a grin.
"Sorry." Jackie mumbled.
Nick just laughed harder.
Jackie shook her head, and then she turned her attention back to the dog.
"Come Dolly." She said.
The puppy followed her happily.
Jackie led her into Jasmine's room, "there's your bed, now go lay down." She whispered to the puppy so she wouldn't wake the sleeping child.
Instead of going and laying down in her own bed the puppy took off at a run and jumped onto Jasmine's bed. The poor little girl woke up with a start but her fear quickly turned to happiness when she realized who had "attacked" her.
"Hi Dawly." She giggled happily.
The puppy licked Jasmine's face in greeting.
"Hi mama." Jasmine said once she had spotted Jackie in the doorway.
"Hi sweetheart." Jackie said.
"Dawly funny." Jasmine giggled.
"Yeah, she's hilarious." Jackie thought to herself.
"Dawly seep with me?" Jasmine asked Jackie.
"Yeah, Dolly can sleep with you tonight." Jackie said.
"Yay Dawly seep with me." Jasmine said happily as she gave the puppy a pat on her head.
The puppy laid down next to Jasmine.
Jackie smiled as Jasmine wrapped her arms around the friendly pup.
"Night Jazz, night Dolly." Jackie whispered as she left the room.
She went back into her own room and crawled into bed.
"Everything ok?" Nick asked.
"Yeah." Jackie said as she leaned into kiss him but Nick pulled back.
"What's wrong?" Jackie asked puzzled.
Nick got a devilish grin on his face "Your breath stinks." He said.
"Oh very funny." Jackie said as she swatted him lightly on the arm.
Nick laughed "How's it feel?" he asked, still grinning.
Jackie laughed. "Goodnight." She said as she again leaned over to kiss him.
This time Nick kissed her back.
"Night." He said before he turned the lamp off so he could go back to sleep.
Jackie also soon fell asleep and much to both of their reliefs there were not any more intruders the rest of the night.
