Note: First Originalshipping fanfic…so ya…inspired by seeing pictures of Red with a scarf…and occasionally Green with him. Italics equal flashback.
It had been three long years since Red had obtained his scarf. Red had his scarf wrapped around his neck as usual and covered his mouth with it. It was the only thing that reminded him of the world outside Mt. Silver. The world in which his friend, Green resided in.
Red's mind began to wander as he thought about Kanto and his old adventures with his trusty Pokemon. This lead to a certain memory on how he had gotten his scarf.
"Red, where are you going?" Green asked his childhood friend and rival.
"Mt. Silver," Red answered in his usual low voice. People always had trouble hearing him, but Green was the only exception.
"What? Why are you going there?" Green asked surprised. Red had just become a champion and now he wanted to leave to some deserted mountain?
Red didn't respond, but instead turned to leave Viridian City and start on his journey toward Mt. Silver.
"Red!" Green shouted, making Red turn his head to look back at him.
"Stay here! Just for a sec!" Green said and once he knew Red was going to wait for him, he left to get something from his gym. Red sighed as he waited for Green. What was it that he wanted to give him?
Green ran back to Red, holding a long silky scarf in his hands. He held it out to Red.
"Here. I hear Mt. Silver is pretty cold. I think you'll need it," Green said. Red was shocked at his compassion, but gladly took it while giving him a smile.
"Thanks," He muttered before he headed off to Mt. Silver, leaving Green behind with a sad look on his face. He would miss his rival more then anything.
"Hey, you sleeping, Red?" A voice asked, surprising Red and snapping him back into reality, away from his memories. Red opened his eyes to look at the person standing in front of him. It was Green.
Red gave him a confused look. Why was Green here?
"What are you doing here?" He asked.
"I thought I would see how you were doing, you know? Plus, I finally had some free time to wander up here," Green said as he sat down next to Red.
The two sat in silence as they watched the snow gently fall onto the ground.
"I see you still have the scarf I gave you," Green commented and Red nodded.
"It helps," He responded. Then Red noticed Green shivering. Using the scarf he gave him, Red managed to put one end of the scarf around Green's neck while having the other end around his.
"R-Red?" Green stuttered not only because of the cold, but because Red had willingly gotten close to him when he was placing the scarf around him. Green could have sworn their faces almost touched.
"See, it helps," Red said, giving Green a smile.
"Ya, it does…" Green said as they went back to watching the snowfall in silence. Each enjoying the other's presence, even if it would only last a short while.
