Wind whipped her silky white dress around her legs as she stood on the precipice between life and death. Today was supposed to be the happiest day of her life and yet here she stood; ready to sacrifice that life. Tears poured down her stained cheeks. Her perfectly done hair now hung loose.
"Does it matter if he loves me, when I don't return his love?"
"I suppose not, but I never loved you. I will never love you. If you give this up, you will lose everything" he said, walking up behind her. She didn't even flinch at the sound of his voice. In fact, she smiled. It made it more real. His voice was a comfort to her.
"You never loved me?"
"He's a better choice. He is sensible and all of your friends love him"
"He only says the things I need to hear"
"You couldn't do any better and you look beautiful tonight" She smiled; it warmed her to think he still felt that way.
"He respects me and he never makes me wait. My parents love him. I love him or at least I did"

"That's the way I loved you" She smiled and turned but there was no one there. Taking one last glance over her shoulder, Hermione Granger-Weasley took the last step and disappeared into the darkness.
