Chapter 1
News After News
Once, in a far land of beauty lived a beautiful princess, Stellar. She was the third of three children next to her sister Cagalli. She was quiet and very proper. She always listened to her father and highly respected him. She was a very affectionate sister.
One morning their father called upon the siblings to announce great news. They were gathered at the courtroom to hear what their father had to say.
"Now, I have an announcement. The son of my late friend, Lord Merquise will be coming to visit our castle," he said.
"Lord Merquise?" Stellar asked.
"Yes, he was a great friend of mine. I expect you all to treat his son warmly for he is also my godchild," he sighed.
"Yes, Father," the three siblings replied in unison.
"Kira, why do you not go horseback riding with him? He's also a skilled fencer, I must say," their father said.
"I will, Father. I think Lord Merquise must be a very accomplished noble," he mused.
"Maybe I could challenge him in fencing," Cagalli smiled.
"Yes, I must say what an opponent he will have with you my dear," the king laughed.
"When will he be arriving?" Stellar asked.
"This afternoon," he glanced at the letter he was holding.
"Father, may I?" Stella asked.
He handed her the letter and she read it thoroughly. Stellar observed that his letter had a sort of air of pride. She dismissed the thought thinking it was rude of her. She handed her father the letter.
"It would really be very convenient if one of you marry Lord Merquise. I would be very happy to give my immediate consent," the king smiled.
After the family discussion, Cagalli and Stellar headed to the garden.
"Don't you think one of us would have to marry Lord Merquise? What if Father forces it on me?" Cagalli sighed and lay down on the grass.
"Cagalli, don't think of it that way. Father won't force things like that," Stellar said positively.
"I wonder what he would look like," Cagalli sat up excitedly with a grin.
"I don't know," Stellar forced out a smile and recollected her predictions from the letter.
"Stellar," Cagalli started, "You may have wondering where I have been the past days."
"Yes," Stellar nodded.
"I have been meeting secretly with Lord Zala," Cagalli smiled widely
"What?" Stellar's eyes widened and broke into laughter, "Does Father know?"
"I don't want to tell him yet. He might get too excited and publicize everything again. I'll tell him when Athrun and I have decided on circumstances," Cagalli smiled.
"Circumstances? You're engaged?" Stellar asked.
"No…we are not…but we will be," Cagalli said.
"I'm so happy," Stellar smiled and took her sister's hands.
"Stellar! Cagalli!" Kira called out.
"Kira, what's wrong?" Cagalli asked.
"Apparently our visitor has arrived earlier than expected," Kira crossed his arms.
"Really? How rude. His letter clearly stated afternoon," Stellar sighed.
"Don't worry. Father wanted him here at the earliest convenience," Cagalli rubbed her back.
"Kira, where is he now?" Stellar asked.
"The carriage just arrived," he answered.
"Let's go," Cagalli took her sister's hand.
The three siblings ran inside the castle to welcome their awaited visitor.
What could happen to the first encounter of Stellar and Lord Merquise? Find out in the next chapter.
