Mirajane
In another world, she is called a demon because she is fierce and her magic immense. She has a younger brother and a little sister.
She loses her sister to a violent mission - (her brother to despair) - and is all but comforted by what may be her last word, a feeling of helplessness at her blank eyes and watching as she slipped away.
She puts on a flower bracelet (a hand-made present from so long ago) and a flouncy dresses (one of those that she'd always avoided before) from her sister's wadrobe -
And vows never to forget her.
In this world, she is called a demon because she is vicious and her magic precise and destructive to make up for its scarcity. She has a younger brother and a little sister and she would die before she let either of them on the battlefield.
When she loses her sister, it is by accident and she is haunted by the fact that she still couldn't save her and she never got the chance to say goodbye.
But she is still needed by a younger brother, kind, tender-mannered -
And never broken-hearted that he was the reason.
My speculations of why their personalities are so different (except Mirajane) in their respective universes - their personalities adapting to their enviroments, rather than the author just having fun making them act completely "OOC" and the opposite of their characters (example, Grey - in a few more chapters) as initially thought!
Mirajane: the trigger, I think, is her siblings. Her sister's "death," which happens in both universes, hence her seemingly unchanged personality. In addition, Elfman's personality: in one, he thinks himself her "killer" and is tortured by it - in the other, he's not and so retains his gentle, pushover ways. Either way, makes the leftover siblings somewhat reliant on eachother, comforting or looking after the other - thus her "kindness" from understanding lonliness.
