Prologue
"Mitzi! Here kitty!" She heard her two-leg yowl. "I'm coming, Candy!" She mewed, in reply, racing over to the counter. Candy was what the female two-leg was called. Her two-leg stroked her. The female two-leg was always affectionate towards her, but the male one was always mean to her, but only when Candy wasn't around. He walked in the front door, and set his box down. "Honey! I bought a house, but there's no cats aloud!" He said. The female wrapped her arms around him. "Oh that's wonderful!" She said. The female two-leg let go of the male, and looked at her. "I can't leave Mitzi!" She cried and threw her arms around her neck. "It's me or the cat!" The meany-man growled. That was her name for the male two-leg. Candy looked troubled for a moment. "I'll have to think." She said, and left the room.
Mitzi flinched at the meany-man, being left alone with him scared her. The meany-man smirked at her. "Stupid cat!" He grumbled, and walked towards her. He moved his hand towards her slowly. "I've made up my mind." Candy mewed, entering the room. The meany-man put his hand behind his back and turned towards her. "What have you decided?" He asked. "I'll go with you." She said. "Good, be ready in three days. I'll pick you up at seven AM."
Three days later...Chapter 1
"No! No! You can't leave me! Don't go!" She cried, racing down the road, but the truck was too fast. She slowed to a halt, and sat down. "I promise, Candy I'll find you! He can't hurt you! I won't let him." She mewed. Then something else struck her. She was outside! She'd never been outside before. Scared, she looked around for her house. Everything seemed to whirl, around her. Then it went dark.
Mitzi woke up to a cat standing over her. The cat was a wide-eyed gray tabby she-cat. Mitzi hissed and stood up. "I bring no harm." The mystery cat mewed. She then relaxed a little. "Where am I? Where's Candy?" She mewed. "You're outside, and who's Candy?" The mystery cat mewed. Mitzi shook her head. "The meany-man took her. I have to find her! I have to!" She mewed. "I can help you!" The mystery cat mewed. "You know her scent, right?" "Scent?" "Never mind." The mystery cat mewed.
"Oh! My name's Hoot! What's you're name?" Mitzi was surprised by the question. "Candy called me Mitzi." She mewed a little unsure. Suddenly a noise came from her stomach. "What's that? I'm I going to die?" She jumped. Hoot laughed. "No! You're just hungry!" She mewed. "Hungry?" Mitzi asked. "Yes..." Hoot frowned. "It means you need to eat." Hoot looked around, and disappeared into a bush. "Wait! Don't leave me!" The she-cat came back with a dead bird in her mouth. "You killed it?" Mitzi asked, she'd seen birds out the window, but never wanted to kill one. Hoot dropped the bird at her paws. "Eat." She ordered. She looked at the bird, then Hoot in disgust.
"I can't eat this!" She mewed. "You will if you want to find Candy." Hoot mewed. At the thought of Candy, Mitzi ripped into the bird. "This isn't bad!" After the bird she began grooming her black fur. "I know someone who will take you to your two-leg." Hoot mewed. "He'll be here in the morning, right now let's get some sleep. Follow me." She mewed, and took her into a barn. "Thank you, Hoot." Mitzi mewed. "You're welcome." Hoot mewed.
