Jo reached over to silence her alarm and buried her head into her pillow to try to sleep some more. It was the worst kind of travesty to have the alarm go off early on your one day off. Damn Alex for distracting her last night before she could turn the alarm off. At the thought of her boyfriend she mindlessly reached for him only to be met with empty sheets.

Her half-asleep mind listened for him, but the house was quiet. She pulled herself up enough to see his phone still on his bedside table and decided he couldn't have gone far so she collapsed back into her pillows. But she couldn't relax while wondering what he was up to. She quickly got up and threw on one of his shirts in the floor to venture downstairs. As she turned the corner in the kitchen, she was hit with the aroma of fresh bacon and coffee that put a smile on her face. Alex glanced up at her and smirked, "Why are you up so early?"

Jo sauntered over to sit on a barstool, "Someone preoccupied my time last night before I could turn my alarm off."

Alex chuckled slightly, "Sorry about that."

Jo grabbed a piece of cooked bacon, "Yeah right." She looked over at the kitchen table and smiled, "Where did the flowers come from?"

Alex gave a half grin, "Would you judge me if I said the house on the corner?"

Jo looked back with a smirk, "You stole them? I was thinking Robbins had gotten them somewhere."

"Nah, they mean more if you pick them yourself."

Jo turned fully towards him with a thoughtful frown, "Why are you picking flowers anyway?"

Alex sighed, "Why can't you just enjoy the freaking things?"

Jo smiled softly, "Alex, they're beautiful. I just don't understand why you're waking up early to go steal flowers and cook on your day off."

Alex looked down at the bacon, "I just...it's dumb. Don't worry about it."

Jo tilted her head and smiled, "It's not dumb, it's sweet. Just surprising is all." Alex stood straighter and finally met her eyes. She gave him a sweet smile, "Thank you."

Alex smiled slightly before looking back down at the griddle, "I wanted to do something special for your birthday."

Jo smiled brightly at this, "Already? That's a good way to make it a surprise since it's not for a few days yet."

Alex continued looking down as he gripped the countertop, his muscles flexing under his black tank, "I kinda thought we could do something different every day this week you know...to celebrate."

Jo's eyes widened in surprise, "Oh Alex, you're really outdoing yourself. We don't have to do that much, birthdays aren't a big deal to me. They never have been."

"They should've been," he answered quickly. He glanced up at her and eyed her carefully, "I just wanna make sure we celebrate the right day, that's all." Jo furrowed her brows at him and began to speak, but he cut her off, "Look, you said it yourself, you don't know what your actual birthdate is. I just wanna...you know...be doing something on the day. I figure if we celebrate all week, we've gotta hit the real day, right?"

Jo felt her heart race with a flood of emotions and barely squeaked out, "Really?" She looked down and bit her lip in an effort to control her tears, "No one's ever..." She looked up at him with bright eyes, "It's perfect. You're perfect."

Alex's eyes widened, "Settle down. It's just greasy pieces of pork and stolen flowers."

Jo laughed slightly and rushed over to hug him tightly, "It's more than anyone's ever done." She looked up at him with eyes full of gratitude and love, "Thank you, Alex."
