The day is over and it is time for sleep, the only thing the children look forward to in their dreary lives. Len and Rin dream of a time long ago when they ran through the fields and picnicked with their loving parents. A smile crosses their faces and their attached bodies lie at peace. Miku dreams of a time when she was much younger, when she used to sing on stage and the crowds would applaud her and throw money to her. The legs attached to her body that are so foreign move with a slight burst of happiness. Kaito who lies awake and hungry looks over at the others in their cages. He wishes so much to escape from his prison and devour their flesh.
The ring master, who to the children remains nameless, walks hurriedly past the cages containing his sick and twisted creations. His show promising freaks of nature when in reality they are only the creations of his devious hands. He suddenly stops, with the long tail on his striped jacket trailing on the ground. Kaito stares at the ring master with hungry eyes, wanting nothing more than to pierce his skin and chew on the bones of the one who has made him what he is, a heartless animal that craves nothing but cold, raw meat. His hands begin to tremble as Kaito stares soullessly into his eyes, so he runs out of the tent as fast as he can.
Kaito rolls over and holds his aching stomach; if he will not be fed, he will go and find food of his own. He lunges at the barred door, but it is no use. The chains binding his feed to the cage will not budge. Feeling like a trapped animal, Kaito begins to gnaw at the bindings. One of his sharp canines is ripped from his gums and blood begins gushing out. The taste of blood drives Kaito to escape even more and he fights harder until he has ripped out the bottom of the cage. He walks to the door and struggles with the lock, it has been nearly eight years since he has moved and used his hands as a normal human. He breaks away the poorly made lock and jumps out of his cage in search of meat. He looks to all of his fellow attractions, and somewhere deep inside of him knows that he should leave them be because he is one of them.
Kaito lumbers out of the tent into the darkness and isolation of the forest. He feels so free. He hasn't ever been let out of his cage since joining the circus. Kaito looks up at the full moon and lets out a noise that strongly resembles a howl. A smile crosses his face, the first smile he has mustered since long before joining the circus. Kaito then remembers his aching belly and wanders around in search of something good to eat, preferably ring master.
