Seth winced as he was thrown roughly against the marble floor of the Volturi's throne room. The steel cable cut into his wrists as he pushed himself up. He knew he was in deep shit by the look on Aro and Caius' faces. Jane looked ready to drive him insane with her gift but waited for her master's signal. The worst look though was on Marcus' face. That look of worry and confusion made Seth feel ashamed.
"You left Volterra," Aro stated.
"I did."
"Why?"
"I heard my alpha's call. I couldn't deny it."
"Your alpha?" Aro scoffed. "The one you left in Washington."
"Yes." Seth knew that short answers were the best with Aro.
"I'm inclined to not believe you wolf."
"I'm telling the truth! I don't know how they got here but I heard the howl and I couldn't deny his call!"
"And yet you didn't ask for permission," Aro tsked.
Seth looked down at the floor. "When I heard it…" He started quietly knowing they would have no problems with hearing him. "I told Marcus I had to go… he said 'okay'." Seth swallowed hard. "W-wouldn't that be considered permission?" He didn't want any punishment Jane could come up with…
"You did not state where you were going however."
"No, I didn't."
"Enough Aro." All eyes went to Marcus. "Seth had my permission to go, no matter how indirect it may have been."
The rest of the Volturi were not pleased with Marcus' decision but because Seth belonged to him they couldn't say anything without incurring his wrath. Seth's wrists were released and he rubbed feeling back into them as he and Marcus walked back toward their rooms. Seth kept his head down, ashamed, but he kept glancing at Marcus.
"This is not a sin for which you need to seek atonement Seth."
Seth blinked and stopped walking. Marcus stopped a moment later and turned to look back at him. "What about your forgiveness?"
Marcus strode quickly to Seth and took him in his arms. Marcus bowed his head and kissed Seth's forehead. "You do not owe me any forgiveness."
Seth wrapped his arms around Marcus as he blinked tears away. "But I do… I never should have left you."
Marcus hummed softly and stroked Seth's hair. "How about if we agree for you to just not leave again?"
"Order me. That's the only way I can deny his call."
"Seth, I do not want you to leave me to see your alpha again. That is an order."
