"Come on. I missed again, doru?"
A young Digimon, Dorumon, stood alone at the edge of a river failing again to catch yet another fish. He snorted in frustration as he watched the fish swim by in the river. Not a care in the world. He dipped his snout down again and again, trying to snatch a fish in his jaw. No luck.
"Dang it, stupid fish..." He peered down watching as the fish continued to swim by. "Why won't you let me eat you? I'm hungry, doru..."
Dorumon's stomach growled then. He fell to the ground on his side in a mock fatigue. Just staring at the trees and the river.
It was moments latter when he saw a faint light across the river.
He sat up and moved to the very edge of the river bank. Trying in vain to get a better look.
"Can't see it!"
He walked along the edge to see if he could see it at a different angle, but no. He still couldn't see what it was. He could only see the speck of bright light coming from the bushes across the river.
"Dang."
He paced back and forth trying to think of something. It didn't take him long, not at all. He looked at the river, and without much more thought to the matter jumped as far as he could across the river. Then swam the rest of the way to the opposite river bank.
Now on the other side, and dripping wet, he ran excitedly to the location of the light.
That is until his keen nose picked up a much more important sent. Dorumon halted for a moment. He sniffed the air for a special scent, one he hadn't expected to smell. Sure enough it was what he thought it was.
"I smell a Digi-egg, doru."
Dorumon changed to relying on his nose and following the smell of the egg. He had almost forgotten about the light. That is until he found the scent led to the light.
"Huh?" He stuck his snout into the bush and sniffed around. His snout hit something solid, startled, he pulled away from the bush quickly.
He approached again, this time he carefully pushed his entire head through.
Sure enough just behind the small, dense, bush was a very odd looking Digi-egg.
Dorumon grabbed it as best he coul and pulled it from the bush. He began to examine the eggs surface for scratches or cracks as his instincts demanded him too. Dorumon was surprised to find the egg was in perfect condition. There was not one imperfection on the shell.
The egg was quite odd though. The shell was halved by two colors, purple and white, in the center by a zig-zag line. Then on one side of the shell there was a strange symbol. An upside
down triangle surrounded by three smaller ones.
Dorumon wondered if the egg belonged to anyone, but he hadn't seen anyone out here since he had gotten to the river, or even on the way to the river for that matter.
"What do I do, doru?"
He thought a moment. He could bring it back to the village with him... but how to get across the river?
It didn't take the clever little digimon very long to come up with a plan.
Dorumon quickly began to dig, looking for tree roots to tie around the egg.
