N.B. - this needs to be read with the Tango de Roxanne playing behind it :)
Tango de Roxanne
Standing in the shadows of a stone archway, she watched Christian in the
moonlight, noticing every detail.
His eyes upon your face
He knelt down onto the cold hard flagstones, his arms pressed against his heart, his head almost on the ground. His shirt was creased, his jacket
and hat flung across to the other side of the courtyard.
His hand upon your hand
Lifting his head, he looked up into the clouded sky. His clear voice carried across the square, lifted by the wind, and accented by the anguish
in his heart.
His lips caress your skin
His torment reached a climax when he realised that he couldn't bear it any
longer.
It's more than I can stand.
Stepping out of the shadows herself, Roxanne walked over to Christian.
Although her steps echoed around the courtyard, Christian didn't turn
round.
Why does my heart cry?
He stood up, oblivious to everything around him. His arms had fallen limp
after stretching out in a plea to the heavens. He stood loosely, still
speaking into the night.
Feelings I can't fight!
Roxanne reached out to touch him. He turned round, looking at her through blinding tears. For a moment he seemed uncertain, then he embraced her.
Standing in the middle of the courtyard, they kissed.
You're free to leave me
They separated for a moment, as Christian gazed at the woman in his arms
again. Pulling her closer, he whispered in her ear.
Just don't deceive me!
Again, they stepped away from each other, hands still clinging on, both
beginning to walk in either direction.
...And please believe me when I say
He turned round suddenly, almost running towards her, and swept her up in
his arms.
I LOVE YOU!
