Edythe, My Mate - You are My Fate, Do Not Suffer Any Blame

~oOo~

Edythe

My love, my mate

You are my fate

Do not put yourself to blame

~oOo~

I remember, when I first saw your face

My very first day

At Forks High School

The day that changed my life forevermore

I was in quite a gloomy mood

Because I did not like the cold

And being the new boy, in a way I felt like everybody's toy

~oOo~

I remember, I first found your family quite strange

All of you so different, yet looking so alike

Different hair colors and faces, but all of you chalky white

And all so uncanny beautiful and handsome, with dark eyes

Yes, all of you possessing a beauty of an otherworldly kind

I had never seen anything alike in all my Life

~oOo~

Maybe I should have been afraid, like most seemed to be

But when I met your eyes, so searching, questioning

All I could feel was a compelling fascination and appeal

You were the most beautiful girl I had ever seen

Perfect, too perfect, so beautiful it hurt my heart and eyes

Yes, it blew my mind, I was enchanted that day

~oOo~

And then, in biology, you acted so strange

I could not understand it, could not put you out of my head

Later I learned, you had been close to killing me that day

Because you were a vampire, and my blood sang to you in a special way

To restrain yourself, you had to run away

And I feared I would never see you again

~oOo~

But you came back, and saved me from the van

Yes, had it not been for you, I would have been dead for sure

But by saving me, you were exposed

And I began searching for the truth

~oOo~

Later, you saved me again, in Port Angeles

And it all were revealed, you are a vampire who can read minds

Yes, everybody's but mine

To your great surprise

I was not scared at all, because I had already made up my mind

All I ever wanted was you, my love, my dearest friend

Your species made no difference to me

It did not matter at all

Because I had fallen in love head over heels

All I could see was you

Edythe, you are the love of my life

So pure and kind

The purpose of my very existence

~oOo~

So, my love, do not blame yourself

Because I have no regrets

Of course, I sometimes ponder if it could have happened any other way

Thinking of all I left behind, mum and dad

And what I said to him that day

When I got home from that fateful baseball game

And had to run away

Of course it would have been nice

To say a proper goodbye

~oOo~

Be that as it may

I know we were destined to be mates

That is our fate

And I would not wish to have it any other way

~oOo~

I rather be a vampire by your side

Than live an empty life

You brighten my days

Fill them with never ending happiness

~oOo~

So, my love, I say it again

You are my mate

My fate

Do not put yourself to blame

~oOo~
