It's been while since I posted a poem based on a Bible story. This time I've based the poem on a story from the Book of Acts. The verses are Acts 20:7-12. It tells of an event where Paul preaches until the middle of the night. During this time, a young man falls asleep at a window and falls out of the window and dies. According to most, this is the first casualty of a Sunday service. Nonetheless, it's an amusing story coming from the Bible and today I'll share my interpretation to you.

Disclaimer: I don't know why I need to state that I do own the bible, but being sued (smite) by God (or the Catholic Church) is the last thing I want happen to me. I'm respectful of religions and this poem shouldn't be taken too seriously. Treat it as a humorous treatment of a Bible story.

First Boring Sunday Service

Long deep sleep young Eutychus goes
By a window gawked down below
Of those that walk from left to right
The towns people with their nightlight
It's soon towards the midnight sky
When only owls and bats do fly
Wise Paul speaks on and on and on
The young bored men wished to be gone
Deeper and deeper the man sleep
And in his sleep he gave a leap
Out of the window to the street
That were below and much discrete
Than the room Paul was teaching in
To see what happened to the din
The saint went downstairs with a grin
"He's not dead" Paul said to them all
"To think such a thing is appal"
He embraced the man in his arm
The youth aroused despite alarm
Everyone clapped at Paul's display
No one was the least with dismay
