Summary: A short little drabble that takes place about 1-2 years after the Final Battle.
Fallen
The knock, though very soft and light, startled Hermione out of a sound sleep. At first she thought she had dreamed the sound, that she was still half in the world of dreams, until the knock came again.
Sitting up, she realized that she had fallen asleep on the couch in the living room, the TV still flickering in the corner with the sound turned down.
Standing, Hermione rubbed the sleep from her eyes and made her way to the door of her flat. After sliding back the bolt, she opened the door to find her best friend of nearly ten years standing before her, a sheepish smile on his face.
"Harry? What are you doing here so late?" she asked; worry already starting to crease her brow as she studied him. There were no obvious signs of blood or broken bones, no signs that he had been hexed or cursed. In fact, it didn't appear that he was injured at all. At least not noticeably anyway.
As if he knew what she was thinking, Harry answered her quickly. "I'm fine, don't worry. I just, I had to come see you," told her stepping into her flat as she waved him inside.
"Are you sure you're alright Harry? You look a little peaky," Hermione said, now chewing her lip in worry.
"Yeah, I just, I had to come. I can't keep it in anymore," Harry babbled, running his hand through is messy black hair absently.
"What Harry? Can't keep what in anymore?"
"Hermione, I love you."
"Oh Harry, of course I know you love me," Hermione replied, though her heart had started to pound just a little bit harder.
"No, Hermione, I ... I ... I mean ... that ... Oh sod it!" And the next thing Hermione Granger knew, Harry Potter had stepped towards her, wrapped his arms around her waist pulling her close and proceeded to kiss her with unbridled passion.
Somewhere far above them, in a place muggles called Heaven, a certain wizard with blue, twinkling eyes was laughing.
So what did you think? Please, let me know. And as always, please be kind. Thank you.
