I was walking with Remus back towards Gryffindor tower. Last night was the full moon, so he had been in the hospital wing since the sun rose and it was now about noon. Remus was not all there after the transformations. This one seemed to have been particularly hard. Moony was always kind of quite, but not THIS quiet. We were about halfway there when he just stopped walking.
"Remus?" I asked, very calmly as to not scare him. He just stared straight ahead, not responding. "Hey, moony? You there?" I repeated
"James..." he said breathlessly. He slumped down to the floor. I sat down next to him and put my hand on his shoulder trying to pull him back to reality.
"Remus? Are you alright?" I knew the answer but he needed to answer for himself so I knew he was still there.
"Im so..." he briefly closed his eyes but opened them again "...so tired" he mumbled extremely quietly.
"Hey. Moony! Stay with me. We have to get back to the dorms then you can sleep." I reassured him. As I said that he slumped up against my shoulder and his breathing went shallow and slow. He just couldn't stay awake. He was way too tired. I, very slowly, picked him up bridal style. His head once again slumped on my shoulder. I forgot how little he weighed despite his height. He fell asleep completely on our way back to the dorms. When we got there I carried him up the stairs to our room. I laid him down on his bed and put his blanket over him.
"Night moony." I said as I walked back to the common room. The poor guy has but put through hell. He was such a good person and he genuinely deserved way more than anyone could give him. But he's our moony.
